It would be nice if adults acted like adults, except when we need to be grown-up kids.

Yes, there's a lot to be said for the idea of taking responsibility.Opus the Poet wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 8:23 pm It would be nice if adults acted like adults, except when we need to be grown-up kids.
Even if it is, at times, taking responsibility for irresponsibility.

Hmm... Ms Anderson is asking "with trepidation seeing Miss Gilchrist is involved"? What, for fear of what might happen if Castela got too upset?

I noticed in that first panel Castela is looking beyond Shawna. I think she saw Bryn walking up behind her.
Personally, I’m starting to think that Katherine got a lot of her chill from being around Bryn.

It's a well-known therapy for people who have problems working in 3 dimensions, I spent many a year building model cars and airplanes.

More, I suspect, a matter of "Uh oh. Based on history to date, this young lady can stir up a crisis even while quietly taking a nap. She's a catalyst for chaos, and maybe the last thing a destabilized young lady like Briar should be sufficient with right now."lake_wrangler wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 8:41 pm Hmm... I love the idea of Briar making model sailing ship "using traditional methods" but also making it fly. That begs the question "whose tradition?" and brings to mind the fantastic steampunk technologies of the "Girl Genius" universe.
Briar is a Spark (or, at the very least, a Madgirl).

So THAT's why the name kept tingling at the back of my mind!!!
Looking up the movie's wiki, I immediately notice it stars Conrad Veidt, star of 1928's The Man Who Laughs and is generally credited as the character who inspired the appearance of the Joker.

Knowing about that movie explains a whole lot.

1) She knows that Castela has a good bit of destructive potential. Even if she doesn't know all of the details, she's at least seen a demonstration.lake_wrangler wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 8:41 pmHmm... 2) Castela's been involved in other various bizarre incidents and shenanigans. Some of which probably resulted in much paperwork for Bryn to fill out.
3) Castela is the last little baby of Bryn's girlfriend, and might possibly even be a future step-daughter.
4) Possibly the most terrifying of all, Castela's a teenaged girl.
Why wouldn't Bryn be trepidatious?
She may see the world in an extreme version of German Expressionistic cinematography.
