Re: Talking about Spiders...
Unbeknownst to them, by retrieving the spider from its habitat, they doomed this new species to extinction... For they knew not that this was a species where only two specimen existed at a time, a male and a female. When they lay their eggs, only the strongest male and female survived, eating all others, then eating their progenitors.
They then helped each other for feeding: the male corralled their prey, while the female lay in ambush. By the time they returned this spider to its habitat, the male had starved to death. The female soon died as well.

Clearly, those researchers had neglected to study horticulture, and the scientific ethics of "no kill I" studies.

I agree with the general sentiments, esp in these modern days where you are more likely to Safari w/ a Camera rather than a Rifle...

Of course, now you can simply have the camera hooked up to a rifle and the whole thing remote-controlled, so you can go on "safari" and shoot critters while never leaving your bedroom. Yay.TazManiac wrote:I agree with the general sentiments, esp in these modern days where you are more likely to Safari w/ a Camera rather than a Rifle...
Re: Talking about Spiders...
That reminds me of a line from Megadeth's "Countdown to Extinction". Right before the chorus, he says/sings "the hunt is canned."
There is no such thing as a science experiment gone wrong.

Unless they're people, in which case most societies tend to get really twitchy about the third part of that.TazManiac wrote:"Dress em, Cook em, & Eat em, else Don't Shoot em..."

That part's actually rather common. They just cook 'em extra-extra-extra-well-done.lake_wrangler wrote:But not the second part?Catawampus wrote:Unless they're people, in which case most societies tend to get really twitchy about the third part of that.TazManiac wrote:"Dress em, Cook em, & Eat em, else Don't Shoot em..."
