There is good parenting in the Wapsiverse, if the examples we've seen are any indication.

It's not easy, telling someone something you know will grieve them, yet being able to do so in a way that conveys that even though it hurts to hear this, you care about them and you are there for them.

Nicely done.

And the explanation itself denotes a fair amount of wisdom on the mom's part. Nicely explained.

At least there's a way to exit the friend zone. Of course, the befriending someone while having hidden motives for doing so is a crappy thing to do.
