I'd suggest that the story involving Katherine is when the strip became "Wapsi Square: The Next Generation".

In case anyone misses the reference;

There is a recently released* Film based on the seminal album of the same name; Straight Outta Compton, that cronicles the up and coming of the Rap Group N.W.A., or Niggaz Wit Attitudes.

It's been reported that the folks depicted in the film, those surviving anyway, spent much time on set to keep the narrative on track and accurate.

From the Album's Wikipedia entry...
Straight Outta Compton is the debut studio album by American hip hop group N.W.A, released August 9, 1988 on group member Eazy-E's record label Ruthless Records. Production for the album was handled by Dr. Dre with DJ Yella giving co-production. The album has been viewed as the pioneering record of gangsta rap with its ever-present profanity and violent lyrics. It has been considered groundbreaking by music writers and has had an enormous impact on the evolution of West Coast hip hop.[1]

Straight Outta Compton redefined the direction of hip hop, which resulted in lyrics concerning the gangster lifestyle becoming the driving force in sales figures.[2] It was later re-released on September 24, 2002, remastered and containing four bonus tracks. An extended version of the album was released on December 4, 2007, honoring the 20th anniversary of the original album.[3] On April 14, 2015, Universal Music Group reissued the album on a Limited Edition red cassette as part of their Respect The Classics series.[4] The cassette was released in time for the annual Record Store Day.
It's important to take note that whether or not you like/dislike, agree/disagree, Hate or am ambivalent towards the genre, the delivery, or the vocabulary; there was a time before this came out and then it did. And things weren't the same ever again, in large and small ways.

*Release date for the film is actually 14Aug2015.

The same can be said for the Kinks' "You Really Got Me" which didn't just define a genre - it created one.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!

The one and only time I got sent to the office that didn't involve self defense from bullying was me telling that to my prudish, ancient, holier than thou(who claimed Baptists were superior than anyone else, especially Catholics...which I am, and hated multiracial kids to boot...which I also am), idiot of an English teacher.

Funny rant-necdote under spoiler.

"What were the causes of problems in Greek/Roman Mythology?"

*raised hands*

"Pride/Hubris"

"The fates were bored jerks"

"Jealousy between Gods and mortals"

"The Gods were bored jerks"

*walks to the podium with a paper...I had this all plotted out, you see.*

"Nope. Those are contributing factors. The largest most pervasive issue was simply Zeus, or Jupiter to the Romans...oh, and let me speak in common, because English is a lost cause with most people these days, even those in positions of power...despite being married to a goddess(granted it's a bit scandalous in nature, but that's presently irrelevant), there was one large issue with him...couldn't, or truth be told, was so macho and full of himself that he wouldn't keep it under his toga. If it was a pretty female, he had to lie with her...and created soooooo much drama.

So in short, everything is his fault, so boys*looks up from the podium at the class*remember...if you want to avoid trouble visiting you, keep it covered."

The reason I still have this memory, is the parent teacher conference that followed my speech. She ordered the school to expell me for being obscene.
My father had me write and type it out for clarity..then copied them for the meeting. He was a night shift worker, and at the time, my siblings were not of school age, so my grandparents were called in to watch them so both parents were there.
A little background. She was so hateful to Catholics and multiracial children...in a public school. I stole my Dad's very expensive lecture recorder, and hid it in my homemade carryall and caught the most offensive bits for prosperity, because I got tired of being bullied by this teacher. (Daddy was livid when he heard it, and Mother went out and sharpened the gardening tools to calm down.)
He shared the speech with everyone(superintendent was there too), and asked if they found it offensive. No? How about this?*plays tape* I find it racist, morally reprehensible, offensive, and scandalously abusive. She slandered not just the children, but the parents, and your school's reputation. But I'm not as cruel as she is. I don't want her fired. I want a permanent assistant there monitoring her every word. She needs to leave religion in the church, and unChristianlike comments to herself.
Oh, and one more thing. I want this in her permanent record, so if she decides to leave here, this will follow. She needs to be watched so she doesn't teach her narrowminded views to the kids, only proper English.

My Mother said one sentence to add to that, and that came from a TA who brought two offensive items from the classroom...a yardstick, and a swiss cheese paddle.
"You will...*folds yardstick into a stacked cube* not hit *flat palms the paddle on the table, which splinters(and she's broken about a dozen like that while I grew up)* children with these again."

My parents rocked back then.

Thanks for the memory, jwhouk! I really needed a happy memory of my Mother, and couldn't think of one today.
Yanno how some people have Angels/Devils for a conscience? I have a Dark Elf ShadowKnight and a Half Elf Ranger for mine. The really bad part is when they agree on something.

I recall Larry Niven mentioning having a wall full of the 'Known Space' timeline and inter-relationships of the major characters, maybe Heinlein too...

I for one, appreciate the work.

Heh. If you know anyone who's a past or present member of LASFS (Los Angeles SF Society), ask them about The Chart.

For trhose of us lucky enough to have a hardbound copy of the first edition of Heinlein's "The Past Through Tomorrow" his Future History timeline was on the inside of the cover. I miss that book....lost it when my library was destroyed back in the mid 1980s.
