Yes, I noticed that the shrinkage began almost immediately upon contact with water. I'm just trying to remember what materials do that. All the textiles I'm familiar with expand when wet and have different degrees of shrinkage as they dry, unlike this one. And the strange thing is Atsali does not seem to notice the cups on her top riding up the curve of her breasts. :o

Actually, there has been a higher than normal, wait- this is Wapsi, so what is Normal?, but I noticed a higher than 'normal' degree of 'under-boob' in this Pool Arc...

I'm not really complaining, but I noticed..

Infernal Hell! I wish that horribly inaccurate bit of pop-sci would just die already.
Talk about misleading attention grabbing/shock value headlines. If we only used 10% of our brains, then why the hell bother growing anything beyond the primitive brain? Numerous studies have shown this shocker headline to be false. There's more credence to the 'left brained/right brained' nonsense.

The 10% thing lasts because it's easy to remember, like Warhol's comment about 15 Minutes of Fame - also a misquote. Or "Money is the root of all evil," or "Absolute Power corrupts..." or ... well, there's lots more.

Aside of the Day: "Money is the root of all evil" is not in the Bible.

Well ...
1 Timothy 6:10 - King James Version (KJV)

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Hmm. If you were to make a double-layer sandwich of fabric that was sort of an artificial version of a cellular phospholipid bilayer, with the molecules all arranged so that the hydrophilic sides were on the inside and the hydrophobic on the exposed sides, then you could theoretically make garments that would be waterproof over their entire flat surfaces but that would start dissolving along the edges. I'm not sure just what use such a fabric would be beyond a very elaborate prank, but since when have people needed any better reason than that to make something?

Somewhere out there, there's someone who can use ten percent of other people's brains.

Also, the proper way to translate the rich man quote from the Bible results in "It is easier for a rope to enter the eye of a needle, than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God." One has to strip away the un-needed outer bulk in order to fit through. Capice, bubbeleh?

My point was common quotes and sayings are often mistaken, incomplete, or misinterpreted. "Eye for an eye" for example, is an appeal for moderation, not violent retribution. The list goes on...

no, much simpler versions have been made!

Exactly: You just made jwhouk's point, by pointing out that it's not money in and of itself, but the love of money, that is the root of all evil. It is simply an oft misquoted sentence, just like Atomic was saying.

My point is that "money is the root of all evil" is in the Bible - but it's not the whole thing.

It's like Barnum's "There's one born every minute..." which is almost always quoted without the second part: "...and two to take him."

Dave wrote:Yup. And, most of those that you've just listed are evolved human signalling modes. By the standards of most animals, humans have extremely mobile and expressive faces - the musculature and nerve structure of our faces is unusually flexible. We use it to convey information about our emotional state, in ways which most animals cannot. We out-do even our closest relatives among the primates.
Oh, it goes further than that. Our irises are quite small for our eyes, as compared to other primates and many other diurnal animals. One theory is that this was selected for as a means of communication - you can look at my face from 20 yards away and discern just what my vision is currently focused on, and I can gesture to you with my eyeballs. Rather useful for team hunting...
