It's interesting how much older Atsali looks than her peers. And it's not just the more emphatic onset of puberty, but also the way she holds herself and the way she relates to others. And possibly the invisible weight of remembering past tragedies, both personal and vicarious.

I had the misfortune of watching both of my daughters shed their childhoods far too fast- I won't go into detail, but it came close to murder on my part. They both overcame it, but I would not wish it on any child.

Death of a parent at a young age does that to you. Double that and add in the orphanage thing and you get what we saw back at the Library two years ago.

So you're the one who got it when Bob Bloch died.

On a guitar using a limmer lick riff. I know picky, picky.

Drops a tortoiseshell pick in the pun jar. Can't afford to get caught with it. This lets the jar take the heat.

I do notice all the other girls are IBT's. So are they envious, or just amazed that the cool Sali is hanging at the pool.

Yanno how some people have Angels/Devils for a conscience? I have a Dark Elf ShadowKnight and a Half Elf Ranger for mine. The really bad part is when they agree on something.

Knows all the cool paras? Hell, she's related to most of them now!!!

Talk about Shock and Awe... The other para kids are in Awe of Atsali knowing all the cool Paras... The Shock comes when she lets it out that he's related to them... Aunt Monica, Aunt Bud, Aunt Jin, Gramma Lily... You're going to need a case of selling salts to brig them all around after that revelation.

EDIT: Great Aunt (?) Mayahuel Who s somewhat related to Monica if I remember correctly... which would make Jin and Monica related too...
You know that light at the end of the tunnel?

Mayahuel pretended (by some form of "astral projection" from the Demon Dimension) to be Monica's deceased grandmother, and in this role she taught Monica to read/speak Glyph.

I can't recall it being stated that Mayahuel is actually, physically related to Monica. Considering how long ago Mayahuel lived (and died, and became a golem) any such ancestral relationship would almost certainly have been so completely "diluted" through hundreds of generations of descent that it wouldn't be significant, let alone particularly meaningful.

Jin did carry on an affair with Monica's Grandpa Sullivan, but Jin was already a golem at that point (80,000 years' worth) and didn't (couldn't) bear Sullivan's child. So, there's just a social relationship there between Jin and Monica, not an ancestral one.

Pirogi, I believe, is the Polish for them. I learn from a Russian Babushka, but they are also quite popular among Saxons, Hessians and Prussians. Any man that can eat more than three is a serious troughman.

... the Brew-Ha-Ha anymore does not exist- it was my own personal recipe from my drinking days. Too potent to be called a malt liquor, it clocked in at 11.5% and qualified as a 'sparkling barely wine'. One would treat it with respect or suffer.

... I wouldn't pick my nose with a tortoiseshell pick... actually, I don't know how to use a flat pick. I finger-pick without the clip-ons in true classical tradition. My acoustic is a YAMAHA 1983 231-G wide-neck gut string.
