I agree. There are probably rape related issues Monica has not dealt with even now. Her helping Calista may have just as much cathartic effect for her as the little Fae. As you said, what she did was not really rape per se, but may be close enough for Monica to see the whole thing from the other side. Maybe not the sexual side, but from the rage, control, and humiliation aspects of of rape. Perhaps going through all this will give her a profound insight into her rapist's feelings and POV. What "demons" he had inside him and what they may have caused him to do. This by exploring Calista's driving forces that would cause her to do such a drastic thing. In so doing she may be finally able to overcome some last barriers to her letting go of her trauma at his hands. While she may not be able to forgive him, she may, at least, understand better and, with that understanding, put it to rest. That's one of the basic tenants of reincarnation after all. You have to be both the victim and the criminal. The hunter and the hunted, etc. to truly understand. For that you need many lifetimes as many different people. You must see both sides of everything before you really become enlightened. And can't nobody reincarnate like Jaguar Girl.

?huh? i'm not understanding what point you are trying to make... could you rephrase the question?
When Calista found out that Jessie was being truthful to Atsali she was shocked by it. It seems that to her mermaids are not to be trusted and now the cheerleaders that had humiliated her are now confirmed to be Mermaids (Tuna).

Eh, that's the typical reaction of people to me anyway. . .

I get the feeling that we're all going to end up ridiculing one another over this little issue.

You know what they used to say in the ads for that brand: "I'd mock a while, for a Camel."

Wikipedia seems to work on the "Somebody Said" method of attribution. I remember a story about a Famous Person challenging a Wiki entry that had botched his quote. The Wiki rep declined the challenge, because the FP had no source reference, just their word for it.

Funny how that "hearsay" thing doesn't work in Court Trials either.

Heh. I haven't checked lately to see if it's been challenged or removed, but there's a line in a Wikipedia page that resolves a long-standing controversy, which has no attribution - it's there because i know it for a fact, because it happened to me, but i have no other authority for it.

It is, however, a good place to begin research, because it will likely point you to other, more "acceptable" sources.
