Good thing she isn't a boy. It's bad to sneeze without tissues at the ready.

And Atsali hasn't learned to sneeze quietly yet. Poor Katherine. :?

And now Katherine has a gift from the hormone fairy that has been visiting her daughter, her "Virgin Alarm" has been primed and misfired. (Offers the Pun Jar a copy of Space Balls the movie  )

One of the interesting things about the onset of puberty is that even "the talk" isn't going to prepare a child for everything. The crude mechanics of it are discussed, the reasons are mentioned, and one usually goes into length about how to prevent pregnancy and the spread of disease.

The orgasm aspects of it are rarely mentioned and if they are, there is no description out there that the average parent can think of to tell a child to prepare them for the full reality of it.

The first orgasm is for a significant chunk of us...one HELL of a surprise. Even more surprising is the first orgasm with a partner which is usually a sensation even stronger. Not to go into the yiffy details, but my first was a shock as well and even though I'll never reveal that I overheard her, so too was it for my daughter.

I let Mom deal with that one. She'd have been mortified to know that I knew.

I wouldn't be shocked if Kath has a similar story to tell Atsali of her first. The hard part is to find a way to explain Atsali's "outburst" to Castella that satisfies both curiosity and concernand to get her to shut up about it so as not to honk off her sister.

Being given The Talk is a lot like being told verbally how to handle a jetpack. No matter how much prep you're given and reassurance it will be alright, that first ride is absolutely terrifying.

I doubt it woke Castella up from that deep sleep. Beside the urn probably blocked out most of the noise so that should not be an issue. I wonder if tomorrow's strip is Kathy rushing in to see if Sali is alright, after all Kathy's expression is one of surprise and shock. Being woken up with those noise they could easily be taken as a problem rather than what it is. If Kathy does burst in on Sali now there is a huge embarrassment factor even though Kathy is there to offer support and knowledge.

I give Paul points for taking on this factor of growing up. Most G rated strips would not come anywhere near this kind of thing. He is handling it very well too. This shows the confusing and emotional turmoil all children face at this time of their lives. The subject is being handled with a gentle touch of humor and seriousness that it merits. Nor is it being offered in a way that could be called fan service either. Color me impressed. Good work Paul.

Please note I carefully avoided referring to this as a touchy subject. lol.

It's an 'embarrassing moment' for her big sister ..... of course Castela woke up and heard 'stuff' ;)

ah, silly question. What form is Atsali going to be in? Would what she's just been through have an ..... effect(?) ..... on her Siren form? Unexpected form shift with some changes to her usual look?

The noise that woke Kathy surprised her and as any mom she would be worried that something happened. With Sali making sudden changes in response to her current age only likely to make Kathy worry more. So Kathy rushing in to check on Sali is probably a natural reaction.

As to Sali's form we will see. It might be that this first experience is what is needed to active the full siren form.

You think she'll outdo Monica in the solo run volume department (non-showerhead division)?

Well, at least she now knows that there are some compensations to this puberty thing...

You're a brave man, Pablo. Given how bent out of shape I've recently seen someone get over a skin-tight costume on a busty teenage superhero, I suspect some folks would go ape$#!+ over a barely-offstage teenage orgasm.

Remember the talk you were going to have in the morning, Katherine? Sooooo not happening (in the morning). Oh, and Katherine? I thought I'd warn you that your subject line for said talk has changed...

There are many types of Oh my Gosh... This one, however, there is no doubt what caused it. This particular Oh My Gosh is distinct from all the others.

Kath has a Loooooooog night ahead of her....
You know that light at the end of the tunnel?

Yeah... it's a bullet. Sorry.

So that's why the wings appeared?

She has two kids, they're both supernatural critters that are somewhat unfamiliar to her experience, and just a short while ago they both turned into dangerous rampaging monsters. . .how could Katherine not at the very least quietly sneak over and see what's going on? Even if she's pretty sure what just happened, she probably wouldn't be 100% sure that it's not some other strange and worrisome aspect of one of her kids that is ongoing.

At least she already has the dark circles around her eyes.

Oddly enough, the only time I can recall ever hearing somebody say that in seriousness was in a situation not dissimilar to this one. Seeing it appear again in this comic had me wondering if that's the only time when it's said sincerely.
