Had a thought about helping Jet. Monica can speak to the dead. It's possible she will bring up Jet's parents to comfort Jet and absolve her of some of her guilt that this happened. The 12 year old Jet memory will probably listen to them more than anyone else. She might also vent on her parents for abandoning her and Jill. This would provide a way to easy the internal distress Jet is going through.

And if the "man" was her father, as some seem to suspect? Oh my ...

One of my old favourites, The Tale of One Bad Rat, emphasised the need to confront the abuser. That tends to be difficult if the abuser is dead. Monica could perhaps provide. If it would ease Jet's distress, I'm less certain ...

It was not her father. The man died where Jet was. When she got back to her seat her parents were dead and Jill badly injured. So it was not her father. While Monica could call the man up she does not know who it is.She might be able to but I suspect the real culprit was the TAR. I really like the idea that the TAR was in the rapist and transferred to Jet when his host died.

Except maybe for the tar thing, I don't see why jag girl needs to be involved in all this. I mean, what's going on now is nothing that would not be going on in ordinary psychotherapy.

Monica is performing Triage Therapy. Jet just had that 15-year-old scab ripped off of her surgically by M, so M has to be there to provide healing.

Right now, what Monica is doing will be more helpful than years of therapy (some of which Jet may have already been subjected to, especially after the plane crash).

Once Moni gets Georgette into a stable place to stand, she'll have to more or less reconstruct the origin incident bit by bit. First to help Georgette understand that the crash was out of her hands. Next, to determine both who raped her, and the actual creation/transfer of TAR in that situation. Jaguar Girl just needs to put on her Horatio Caine Sunglasses Of Justice, and forensic the ever-loving hell out of this piece.

Yeah, there's a lot going on (now and in the past) that we and Monica don't know, and which Georgette may not have interpreted or understood very well (in an objective sense).

After this is over, do you suppose Monica goes BACK To SCHOOL to take some Psych. courses to become more prepared in the future?

I'd think offhand that the Biblioteka might be better--they have the ability to explore souls and spirits more "materially" and might have the advantage of better source materials.

Jet never told anyone about the rape so the therapy was about the crash only. I am betting that Jet had suppressed the memory of the attack so deeply that it became the Tar and since she refused to face it, it festered in her. Therapy can't work in a vacuum after all.

Tar was described by Monica as "human-created evil". That means that the evil done by the rapist festered inside the demon-infested Georgette - and grew as she had self-hatred and anger at herself over being raped - and surviving the crash.

Paul was totally right when he said that he had a difficult story to tell - and that it would not be nice. This isn't a la-la story in your average everyday comic but a story of life - and all that happens in it. Combine having to portray the protagonists - without resorting to tricks - and tie it into a story line - not easy.

It's going to be an interesting few weeks - I recommend strong coffee - and the occasional two fingers of the beverage of your choice.

It had to come from somewhere.

And if it wasn't an original part of Jet (which seems unlikely) it came from outside or was created inside her by some event ... either way, it had a "creation" somewhere.

If I'm not mistaken, that's really all that has truly been stated about the Tar and what it is or is not. I think that the reason a lot of forumites have postulated that Tar was created by humans is because of how the word "human" has been used to describe its behavior and who gets to deal with it.

I, for one, am wavering between the theories that Tar was something inside the rapist that jumped over to Georgette when he died and that Tar was the result of Jet repressing and staying silent about her experience...and I'm leaning more towards the later.
