"Tsilla" - from the Hebrew

Post by Fairportfan »

Has anyone mentioned that "Tsilla" (or "Zilla") is Old Testament Hebrew for "Shade"?

Tsilla was the second wife of Lamech, and mother of Tubal-Cain.

Yup... there was some discussion of that in the late, lamented Comments section, on the day when she first gave her name (a couple of days after she first appeared on the scene).

It seemed like a great choice at the time, given her power over shadow... and now that we know more about her nature, it seems even better. Paul did it again... bringing a classic reference from Ancient Times into the modern Wapsiverse, and making it his own!

Thanks for reminding me that Tubal-Cain is the secret word if mentioned in a courtroom will compell the judge to rule in your favor since all judges are secretly Masons. (according to News Radio)

Well Tubal-Cain is the first master metal-smith so maybe it was a way to get good jewelry.

But, somehow, the historians always neglect to honor his sister, who was one of the first skilled healers... a surgeon and (rare for the times) a knowledgeable family planner.

I'm speaking of Tubal-Lai-Gay-Shun, of course. You've certainly heard of her even if you aren't aware of her true history.

You owe the Pun Jar a hand-crafted bronze pessary, at the very least.

"No, no!" cried Moxie, nibbling at his tie-clip in a frenzy.

(deposits a sterling-silver speculum into the Pun Jar. For some reason, Atomic, offering up something akin to a brass ball just didn't seem right in this context. :P )
