So, it seems like eBay is finally removing old archived listings/images. It makes sense on their end (only so much server space and all that), but it stinks for those of us that are looking for older pieces in this forum. Has anyone kept an archive of Paul's listed artworks?
eBay's system certainly consists of many thousands of individual servers which divide up the workload of showing and managing auctions. They operate from a database which is replicated across multiple file servers (for reliability and performance) and is supposed to be consistent and synchronized (so that the same data is "seen" no matter which front-end server addresses which database server).
There are all sorts of problems which can cause some of the servers to drop out of synchronization with others. When that happens, different users end up seeing different results for the same input. These problems tend to be fairly short-lived.
It might also be a staleness issue. If eBay has started purging older data from their database (as duckbeast reports) then maybe some older bookmarked links have "lost their context" and will not work properly in the future.

Gave me a scare, thinking they wouldn't show past sales!
I never thought about bookmarking them. I just saved them all.
If you go further back in this forum, you'll see that older sales aren't showing up anymore. Recent ones weren't affected by whatever data purge they did and are still showing up.
You've saved a good amount of the older pictures locally, then?

I’d certainly appreciate it if I could get in on this. While I have some parked on Ext Hard Drive(s), I know I lost a good chunk to misfortune this year.
What I see has two pages of posts going back to Aug 15. I'm sure they have to cut off past postings at some point, but three months seems pretty good for someone putting up items every few days.
My collection is pretty deep, so let me know and I'll put up directory Gallery screenshots (1079 items so far) if you want, and sort it out from there.
Don't let other peoples limitations become your constraints!
