I guess it's likely to work pretty well for learning well what not to do, also! For Atsali to have to explain to Pickle how and why she messed up, she'll need to explain it clearly and convincingly to herself, first.

Just a thought: what's the chance that the coach was interested in other skills, not related to sports? That she really wanted our girl on her team, and in her locker room. If you are going to break that many rules, is it really for a win at a third tier high school sport? Some how, things aren't adding up in my mind.

I'm not saying that Atsali would have been cognizant of the nature of the attention, or intentionally encouraging it. For her, the nice lady was giving her things, because she was good. The idea that she might need to be "extra good" off the field later, to keep the toys coming, would not have accured to her.

Just a thought: what's the chance that the coach was interested in other skills, not related to sports? That she really wanted our girl on her team, and in her locker room. If you are going to break that many rules, is it really for a win at a third tier high school sport? Some how, things aren't adding up in my mind.

Unfortunately that is a possibility . . . we had one like that in my school more than thirty years ago, and the courts wouldn't let the district get rid of her because it might violate her rights.

Apparently the rights of the girls didn't matter.

Sounds to me like you're talking about sexual abuse... Right?

Wouldn't surprise me. Paul is willing to go very dark, and Atsali is sort of a prime target for that sort of thing.

You may be on to something. Could be that the team has been suffering from a distinct lack of cohesion and the coach, knowing how selfless Sali is from Jessie's wardrobe malfunction in the pool, hoped that selflessness would rub off.

If you're implying what i think you're implying, i certainly hope that that's not the case.

Especially because it's not the coach who takes the hard hits, broken bones, torn ligaments and concussions that the team members risk, essentially for free - and he needs to protect his multi-million yearly contract.

Sad about the kids who get injured, but just that's part of gladiatorial contests ... errr ... college sports, right?

It's POSSIBLE. Especially given that Atsali is part Siren and therefore, according to stereotype, racially inclined to promiscuity. Add in the incubus part and some people may have fantasies they can't resist.

But this whole thing doesn't make sense. Atsali is the Queen Bee of the school. People know she's a Siren and hence a predator; I don't know how Coach Adler thought she could pull off breaking school rules by having her on the team. Not to mention she's the adopted niece of some of the heaviest hitters in the para-universe; that's the sort of thing you approach with EXTREME caution. Also, we've seen the Coach in action. She's no nonsense, and not a font of sympathy, but she seems fair and intelligent. I can't see her risking everything by either attempting to put moves on Atsali OR sneak a ringer into the field hockey team. Of course there are coaches and authority figures who do that sort of thing all the time, and predators in para-sports teams may be a dirty secret nobody acknowledges. We need to know more about what's going on before we can figure out... what's going on...

I do wish we'd seen the confrontation between Kath and the coach. But maybe it hasn't happened yet, since Pickle was with her. She'd have had to rein herself in.
But, yeah, I think there's more to the story. I don't know what the more is, but it's there. The coach had to know Atsali was a predator, and the rules regarding them in sports. There have to be some strict rules, and consequences laid out. Why jeopardize her job like that? A tennis permission form was signed-did she think mom would never go to a tennis match? And even if she didn't know that birdbrain had taken a tennis form to fool mom, even if she received a field hockey form with mom's (traced) signature, she still, at the very least, knowingly broke the predator competition rule.
Atsali is known to be a siren. Recently, she's had the tail and bat wings appear at school. It's not like no one knows.
I'm very curious how this will play out!

I think I could understand this more if it was the other kind of hockey (ice hockey), because there is HUGE pressure to perform, especially in MNHS Hockey circles.

And yes, I would even mean that about high school girls' ice hockey.
