While we're talking about beef...

We did indulge in a bit of beefy artery assault ourselves today, in a treat visit to a local Ethiopian restaurant. My wife rarely eats beef at all, and I do so only occasionally... but this was exceptional stuff. I'd say the kei wot was the standout... beef cubes cooked in
red pepper sauce (Berbere), seasoned butter, garlic, onions, and fresh ginger, simmered tender. Alitcha wot (more beef), lamb stew, chicken (doro wat), collards, three kinds of lentils (different in color, texture, and flavor), and salad, all piled up on an 18" disc of injira flatbread (soft, spongy, soaks up all the excess sauce and juices). Enough of each for two or three mouthfuls per person... lots of variety.
And, it's just plain fun to go to a real sit-down traditional dinner, and eat with your fingers

So you must have been quite disappointed when you learned that Lady Fingers were not, in fact, made of fingers...

Don't talk to me about disappointment. I still haven't gotten over what I learned from Wednesday Addams.
At least "chicken fingers" are made from chicken, even if they aren't really fingers. (Chicken
wings are where the fingers are.)

Huh?
Oh, I didn't even notice the added link. I'm on data right now, so no videos for me until I get home.

Tricky thing with Ethiopian restaurants is you can't be sure whether they'll have food.
Depends on whether they're having a teff year.

// Wince. //
Being sent home hungry from such a restaurant would be adding insult to injera.
