Yes, Jin and Monica probably should compare notes... but I'm really not sure what class of literature will result from that particular collaboration. Could be anything from black comedy, to a cookbook, to a manual for the reorganization and destruction of several universes.

This could be... interesting.

Bud looks happy...
Bud of all people should realize that Jin may have a point. She spent most of the past millennia half crazy

well, last time she was at the pool she had to wear a 'regulation' swimsuit that the other girls were wearing, that looked like she was going to 'pop out' !!oldmanmickey wrote:I gots me a feeling that this Saturday pool party is gonna Rival the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and the sinking of Atlantis in just shear fun for all.

But jin said to wear the outfit she used (good bra underneath...) last time on the island, didn't she???
But then I'll bet bud etc are planning something to raise the temperature , both sexily and fight -y... LOL

Monica just a got a '2 for 1 offer' string bikini, specially designed for her, and it was easy enough to modify for you!!!

Re: Worse Than Me 2015-04-1
I don't think Jin has that kind of show in mind. What she is setting up is to triggger the person who complained last time to an even more vocal response and a confrontation. When that person pushes the pool to try and insist Sali get in a different suit that is when Jin steps in and counter punches by telling the pool how stupid what they are saying is. I would also expect here to be wearing a barely legal suit as well! Pun intended. When she forces the pool to back down the complainer will likely try and confront Jin and Sali to shove their attitude down their throat. At that point Jin boils that person in their own lard. This will provide Sali with an example of self confidence and how to deal with that type of person. Of course this is an extreme way to deal with the problem as the complainer better have a strong heart when Jin verbally attacks.illiad wrote:well, last time she was at the pool she had to wear a 'regulation' swimsuit that the other girls were wearing, that looked like she was going to 'pop out' !!oldmanmickey wrote:I gots me a feeling that this Saturday pool party is gonna Rival the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and the sinking of Atlantis in just shear fun for all.

Drops a mini-bikini into the jar. I suspect it will be bigger than what Jin wears to the pool.
Ambush questions are fun. Watching the mental impact of them as they distort, or crumble, opinions based on faulty logic.

Re: Worse Than Me 2015-04-1
I got a question...
What is it with really powerful women in this comic having no self-esteem?
Jin: I shouldn't be a mentor, I'm all screwed up!
Monica: I shouldn't be a mentor, I'm all screwed up!
Yet, Katherine, who has NO powers what so ever, except for the Mom Death Glare, adopts two supernaturals who could accidentally turn her into a pile of soft, wet, meat chunks before they realized what they had done.
Phix has had some unkind words about herself. Shelly as well. I don't know, it's just... getting a little annoying.
If I had the ability to teleport entire armies into the sun, conjure forth all their worst nightmares and never stay dead. I don't think a lack of self-confidence would be one of my problems.

Re: Worse Than Me 2015-04-1
If anyone can teach M how to assert her position without scaring the crap out of Cricket, it's Jin.
Re: Worse Than Me 2015-04-1
Heh... in the upper row is one entitled "The Drunken Botanist".
I guess that means Mayahuel will be participating in the project!

Re: Worse Than Me 2015-04-1
Having great power, and having the wisdom to use that power without doing a very serious amount of collateral damage, are two entirely different things.captnq wrote:If I had the ability to teleport entire armies into the sun, conjure forth all their worst nightmares and never stay dead. I don't think a lack of self-confidence would be one of my problems.
Monica, for example, let her anger get away from her once... and lashed out at the person who had provoked her, in a way which would have killed almost anyone. Just her good luck that Nudge is immune to hot lava (which M did not know at the time). She now knows that she can become sociopathic under stress... willing to use her power without care for the consequences to others... and when she "comes down" from this state she's horrified by what she did and how she behaved.
Phix apparently regrets some of the things that she (a powerful sphinx) did as a youngster.
Bud is incredibly powerful... and bears the burden of the knowledge that she once destroyed an entire civilization. She still occasionally lets her anger get the best of her (blew a hole in the beach of Monica's new island) and was quite shamefaced about it afterwards.
Jin looks back at what she did with her power and manipulations over the eons... and, as she told Atsali, she quite willingly killed innocents younger than Atsali in order to achieve her goals.
I don't think these women aren't confident of their powers. They're just soberly aware of how much they've f*cked up when using those powers, in the past, and aren't confident that they're wise enough to avoid doing so again.
Kath, on the other hand, is essentially a normal human (chimeric-Ethetian origin notwithstanding). She can stretch and exert herself, and achieve excellent things at the upper end of the normal human range, without having to worry too much about inadvertently slaughtering thousands because she hiccoughed at the wrong moment.
As Thomas Covenant put it, only the powerless can be truly innocent. Power is guilt.
Or, as Herewiss s'Hearn said to the Goddess, "Mother, mightn't You have chosen better for the first man to have Flame in all these years? The Fire won't lessen my flaws - they'll get bigger, if anything. And even with all this Power - and I know I have much more than the average Rodmistress - can I really change the world that much, will I really be worth it? There's so little time, so little of me..."

Monica's problem is, ALL she wants is JUST to be a **normal** girl, working at a museum....

-- and all the rest of the above you will find in modern drama... exploring the 'human condition', etc, etc...
If you read the comic, you will know that Nudge hates 'baths'.. A lava bath is just 'normal' to get out all the dirt...Dave wrote: (highlighted text is mine:) ))
Monica, for example, let her anger get away from her once... and lashed out at the person who had provoked her,NOT just once, but repetitively so much that I am sure the 'outcome' was wanted!!! in a way which would have killed almost anyone. her power is NOT to kill, but expose her 'victim' to their greatest fear...
Just her good luck that Nudge is immune to hot lava (which M did not know at the time). and if nudges fear had been 'fluffy bunnies' then she would have been *covered* in them! She now knows that she can become sociopathic under stress... ( the sort that would drive any human to the brink??? answers beyond speculation, please..) willing to use her power without care for the consequences to others... and when she "comes down" from this state she's horrified by what she did and how she behaved.

So, who will Bud end up mentoring? There has already been talk about how much Castela is starting to resemble her. . .
