Hmmm. Perhaps Atsali is more aware (for want of a ... better ... term) than many of us have been giving her credit for?

I suspect that when Nadette went in for that hug, she removed the Talisman from Atsali's neck.
...And she enjoyed herself in doing so.

I don't know which guys you are referring to, but I mentioned that we had seen Atsali's emotions overrule it once before this. Here's the strip in question.DilyV wrote:Oh boy....

So it seems that if the emotion is strong enough and immediate enough, the talisman can't keep everything human. With the fall, she was able to keep rational about it and so the wings did not burst out. But if she is lashing out reflexively, like at Lily or at Jacob here (notice the teeth), then the talisman has a harder struggle to keep working.
And as to the question of why the wings would pop out now as opposed to the last time Nadette got that close, we'd need to know for sure if she took it off or not before the clinch.
EDIT: changed can into can't. Stoopid typo.

I wonder if Atsali is in "trouble" here. She has shown she is capable of expressing attraction to other girls, with Berdette, but at this point e don't know how serious that was as there was nothing real about it for B. And what about the boy she just made a date with? And what about little Nell? For answers to these and other questions come back tomorrow for another episode of Wapsi Square

First thoughts:
Is that a wing in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?
The library sent them directly to the radiation site? WTF?
I hope Nadette can morph into a lead lined suit. . .
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket. . . .?

I think that Nadette has spelled it all out here, But, like a typical seer, whatever she was going on about will only make perfect sense after the matter is settled.Opus the Poet wrote:I wonder if Atsali is in "trouble" here. Re: Trust Us 2015-01-13
Atsali learns of a fresh aspect of her siren heritage to overcome. The siren's promiscuity stereotype would have to include a cavalier attitude toward relationships. Now, after taking a step toward exploring a possible normal 'ship with Jacob, she is in the grasp of a rather forward admirer... one who just was encouraging her interest in Jacob within the past couple of hours. Rejection of the stereotype places 'Sali on the straight-and-narrow, and here Nadette is pushing her to the onramp of the stereotype expressway. This has to be very very conflicting to our sweet little birdbrain.
Aside to Gyrrakavian... radio 'soap-opera' serials used to end episodes with two or three cliffhanger questions for the audience to ponder. Sometimes they would include a non sequitur like the one Opus included in his post. In the early '70s, The Electric Company featured a recurring soap parody sketch called Love of Chair, which always ended with, ”And...what about Naomi?“ Naomi had nothing to do with the sketch.

Re: Trust Us 2015-01-13
If I'm not mistaken the Talisman doesn't keep her emotions in check... it stops her wings from manifesting under emotional stress. I'm not so sure that Nadette took off the Talisman... Maybe Atsali did so she could use her wings in an emergency... or... and this is a big maybe, Maybe Nadette made the Talisman to react in the same manner as Atsali's song. If it's someone Atsali really cares for, the Talisman doesn't work... That might explain why Nadette is looking around Atsali at her wings and stating DAMN SKIPPY so forcefully, as if she's surprised her jury rigged Talisman worked as intended. Damn Skippy as in Nadette is confirming that Atsali has feelings for her too. Just a hypothesis at this point, but it seems plausible.... especially because of the embarrassed look on Atsali's face... as if she's been busted... (no pun intended, but places a fully stocked adventurers survival kit in the pun jar for Atsali and Nadette to use.)Thor wrote:I don't know which guys you are referring to, but I mentioned that we had seen Atsali's emotions overrule it once before this. Another possibility - If they are in an area that has a "anti-poit" effect ... perhaps there is an "anti-magic" effect?jwhouk wrote:I suspect that when Nadette went in for that hug, she removed the Talisman from Atsali's neck.

Although, to be honest, I suspect that when Atsali took off her jacket she also took off the talisman. If they are where Atsali thinks they are, she will need to be able to transform.
