"I am not surprised. I am so not surprised I could just moult!"

Poor Bud...

Obviously, given the Suspicious Lack Of Freaking Out on display, Katharine and Atsali know something Bud doesn't.

Does Castela have a warped sense of humour?

One more thought: That's one way to sober up fast...

I would have rather seen the instant 'spaff' followed by a giggle and scrunch scrunch scrunch... That hurt to see... even though we knew it was coming

So... can there possibly be even one loving, caring adoptive mother on the planet who could honestly react as Kath just did, rather than going into "turn it up to 11" freak-out mode?

Congratulations, Castela. You just made a clay golem's, who no longer has any internal organs, heart stop.

Judging by the resigned sigh, this isn't the first time Castela has accidentally impaled herself. Presumably Kath got the freak-out out of her system the first time. ;-)
It's always a good episode of "Mythbusters" when even the bomb squad is standing in awed silence.

And here I thought Castella would put someones Eye out....* Well, Isn't that what Moms say: "Stop That before you PUT SOMEONES EYE OUT!" Fortunately all Kath needs do is take the scissors away and tell the Little One to pull herself together. 8-)

If you remember this strip you know that this must be something of a common occurrence at the Gilchrist household.

Don't sweat it Kath. Bia still has that title sewn up. At least where this group is concerned. Besides a few massive impalings through what would be vital parts of the anatomy (for others) is how the little critters learn. At the least one hopes Cassi will be embarrassed by her mishap (this time). She has a large audience for this one. OTOH, she may jump up and say "I meant to do that!"

Atsali has that "Oooh, that's gonna sting for awhile" look on her face.

And Kath really shouldn't be so tough on herself. So her youngest just impaled herself upon a large pair of scissors; Castela may have been due for a pruning anyway. That's how it is with vines: They grow back.

How does that work without a root system?
perl -e 'print "Just another Perl ${\(trickster and hacker)},";'

Just like some orchids. They absorb what they need from the air. Anyway we don't know how much of her is vines, trunk, or roots.

From the strip showing her going down stairs she is not hurt by this and it probably has happened before. I am sure she will be just vine and get right back up. The only thing that probably could seriously hurt her is a weed eater.

Oh, this could have unfortunate consequences. I can see it now... Castela nervously handing Kath a note from the principal... "Ms. Gilchrist, I'm sorry to say that Castela has been epiphyting at school."

So maybe it wasn't a typo, and Lily was right: Castela does have "Air Omnipotence"...

Yep ... thought so.
And the reactions from people ... other than Bud  ... tells me Castela will jump up. Point to the scissors. And yell "Look what I did! :D "
Then it will take Katherine half an hour to untangle the scissors from Castela.
