Yeah, that seems entirely possible. At the very least, the Library might simply be running two of its existing portals in "back to back" mode - step through one, you're in an infinitesimally-thin part of the library and end up immediately stepping through another portal into Elsewhere. As far as we know, nothing prevents the Library from moving its internal portal termini around in a way which would permit this.

I think we've seen the Library provide/use no less than three separate means of transportation. The annex portals are one. The "VORP" teleporter is another.

And, on at least two occasions (here and here) we've seen the Library "reach out" and pull two or more characters at once into its internal space, with no apparent light or sound effects. That may be the "VORP" teleporter in action, or may be something different.

It's clear that to the Library, 13.798 billion years of spacetime is just something which happens to somebody else

Yes and no. L-space can be accessed where large masses of books accumulate. I don't see any.

The Library Transport System (aka VORP) is different from the Portals, which is different from Poiting.

Poiting was developed by the Lanthians to get from point A to point B, provided that they knew where point B was, and had actually been to point B. We're not quite sure about the requirements, but we do know that only the GG's, May and Monica can do it. Jin (and, presumably, May) have reached a capability level where they can "poit" seamlessly.

The Portals were how non-Lanthians got from point to point, using the Akashic records (and, once again, having to have a portal physically "be" at the new location before you could "Vorp" to the new place). The portals were similar to "poiting" in that they required DNA sequencing to activate (Etethetians, for example).

The Library Transport System has two modes: one for entry/exit (how the "annexes" were built) and one for direct transport from point A to point B. The "Vorp" is the second kind, and is used for those who can't use the other two transport modes. Theoretically, any and every being who enters the Library can end up using either mode to leave (it's presumed you are scanned upon entry, not quite as intrusively as "entity Villarreal" was when her sub-titan status was confirmed). The entry/exit system is a bit more seamless - one moment, you're in a dilapidated, abandoned building in downtown Minneapolis, the next you're in the Library stacks.

On topic: the idea that the Library could simply transport someone from their entry portal to a different exit portal actually makes sense, from a safety standpoint. If someone was doing some urban spelunking and decided to poke around in a certain abandoned hospital/nursing home, the Library could simply transport the person, as they're opening a door that they think leads to some administrative offices, to a back alley outside the parking lot of a Lund's Grocery Store in uptown Minneapolis.

As it turns out, the Library does a pretty good job of keeping people out on its own, but it still needs protectors to keep those whose intentions might be less than pure from doing something they shouldn't be doing.

This apparently doesn't apply to a certain siren and bearkin.

You are not too old, and just because you'd enjoy the more mature choice of female companionship doesn't make it an invalid decision.

Sometimes these things are out of our conscious control anyway.

The nice thing about imaginary people is that we can imagine doing anything with or to them we want. We can also create imaginary versions of ourselves to be with them--versions that are younger, or smarter, or more bulletproof.

Sure a "real-life" Atsali might be waaaaay too young for most of us to consider or even appreciate, but not so for our idealized 15yo versions of ourselves. It is no shame admitting that they would be all about that.

I was going to ask the question: What kind of entity would trust two teenagers enough to investigate a potentially very dangerous site instead of sending any of the multitude of adults it deals with on a daily basis? ..... but then I remembered what kind of adults the Library deals with on a daily basis

The Library is acting in self-defense - it already has copies of Atsali's YA adventure books, and it has to make sure she has the adventures to base it on, or she might not write them, and the paradox would give it such a pain in the closed stacks.
