Re: More Stuff
Good news on the adopted-daughter/mother situation. First off, she now has a place to stay that isn't my place. This is a considerable relief, as I'm not really set up conveniently for that sort of thing and now I won't have to keep reminding myself to wear clothing at home. One of her friends just went off to college and is living in the dorms there, so her bedroom at home is free. She convinced her parents to let the adopted girl stay there.
She also gets to go back to school tomorrow. Apparently her mother was surprised by the amount of negativity directed her way by the community, and so decided that she would amend the restraining order a bit. The kid can go to school, but can't interact with the mother or her brother while there.

There's a special place in hell for people like that. Fingers crossed for the girl, and her brother.

Re: More Stuff
I'm doing a lot better this week. I finished taking my antibiotics last Sunday, and the infection is gone. My leg is still slightly swollen, but barely. The sore I had just below the knee, which I left out in the open, when I saw that the gauze bandages were pulling at the skin, had a big scab on it for a while, but the scab fell off gradually, between Saturday and Monday. The sore which we did keep covered, just above the ankle, at the back of the leg, is also healing, but not quite done.
I had a follow-up appointment with the doctor, today, and she was impressed with how well my leg was healing. She even offered to cut my medical leave by a week, if I wanted to. I was tempted to take her up on her offer, but I figured I best take my time, for once. So I am still off work until September 4th. I also no longer need to constantly keep my leg elevated, though sitting at the computer is still a little uncomfortable, after a while. Still, this will allow me to do some stuff around the house which I couldn't do while laying down with my leg elevated...
My financial situation will still be iffy, for a bit, as the doctor took some time to fill out the salary insurance form... so this week, I am getting a two-day pay, as that's all that was left in my sick days bank. Next week, I'm not sure if I'll get anything from the insurance, but hopefully, I should get paid in two weeks. And it will be retroactive to a point, so that should help. I just have to be careful in how I spend my money until then. There may also be a one-week gap between the last insurance check and the first paycheck from working again. We'll have to see how that goes.

Re: More Stuff
Well, this isn't the best possible news (it's notably lacking in apologetic insurance-droids showing up with bags of gold) but it sounds a lot better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!
It sounds good that you've decided to take the full allotment of medical-leave time. Hurts the cash flow, I don't doubt, but if your body is still repairing the effects of the infection it's probably best to give it time to do the job properly.

Happy birthday, Sarge!
*loudly and off key* And maaany mooore!
Glad you're healing well, Wrangler. I had to do the constant leg propped up compresses drugs ect a few years back, when what the doc thinks was a spider bite quickly became MRSA. No fun. It does get boring.
You rest and get all healed up. The lack of pay sucks, but your body will thank you.
Heh, you'd laugh at my jury rigged hot wet compress. To keep it going as long as possible without getting up, I layered. Wet cloth as hot as I could stand it. Nuked a rice pack. Put rice pack in plastic bag to keep it dry, laid it on cloth. Laid a heavy towel over all that to hold the heat in. Worked pretty well when I didn't have minons at hand.

The photo I posted was from my daughter, she visited a few years back. The palm tree has grown a few feet but thankfully the view has remained the same. She, her mother, and a cousin toured the area and were In awe of the ruins.Dave wrote:I do believe I know that place... was there not that terribly long ago...

Crud... I went to my brother's house to have him show me were a particular gun store is, where I could order parts to build an AR-10. Turns out they are closed on Mondays, so I'm just gonna save up money for a bit and go to a closer gun store.
Hopefully I can manage to get everything while it's still legal for me to do so.
