OOOOH~

Thanks for the new recipe! I wonder if I could make that work with a room-temperature oxidizer... Perhaps KNO3?

Re: More Stuff
Actually, from what I've read, calcium acetate will gel alcohol at room temperature... it's what's used in Sterno. The reason I specified cryogenic was so that it could use liquid oxygen as the oxidizer, and get a clean burn.
I suppose that you could make up a slurry of ethanol, KNO3 (very finely ground) and a gelling agent, and get it to burn nicely at room temperature. However, I think it would leave a residue of potassium hydroxide... not the best seasoning for cooked alien octopoid sushi. That's the advantage of LOX... no residue.
If you don't mind residue and seasoning, you could use all sorts of interesting hypergolic mixtures. Maybe the classic mix of hydrazine and butanethiol that some madman tried during the days of rocketeering... now that would be an industrial-strength barn fart generator for sure!

Using pure carbon chains ought to do relatively well for you. Gasoline leaves residue because of all the additives. The worst you're going to get from a pure carbon chain (methane, butane, etc...) is some carbon left over. And hey, who doesn't like to smoke their food every so often?
I'm trying to remember the gelling agent I used with propane to make an improvised (but surprisingly clean-burning) napalm...

Well, considering we have such a high concentration of mad scientist hobbyists, ex-military, and pyromaniacs, it's a wonder we don't end up making every single thread degenerate into "hmm, how else can we glass half a continent?"lake_wrangler wrote:Oh dear... Police Find Meth Lab Under Walmart Parking Lot
The Daily Beast wrote:Police in Amherst, N.Y., reportedly found a meth lab under the parking lot of a Walmart superstore this week. According to Det. Lt. JoAnn DiNoto said, the department “stumbled upon” the narcotics at the end of a drainage pipe, wide enough for a 6-foot-tall person to walk through, underneath the store lot.
The lab included a makeshift table with the solvents necessary to make methamphetamines.
“There was no danger to the community or Walmart shoppers or contaminating water source,” DiNoto assured.

Too bad we can't just beat the living crap out of those who would set up these labs.
