And so it begins...

It wasn't all that unlikely, though. Castela is a plant, and Timothy is named for a plant. The biochemistry was there from the beginning.

Although, it's unlikely to work out. Timothy is a monocot, and Castela is a eudicot. I don't think it would turn out as badly as a Montague-and-Capulet mashup, or a Hatfield-and-McCoy, but still... she'd be well advised to phleum.

I'd rather have it be tiny tendrils instead of thorns.

You only need the thorns for attack or defense. Tiny tendrils, even if not greatly prehensile, could increase tactile and sensory surface area...
