Thanks guys! This keeps the forum nice and neat.
I dunno, over the course of a few strips the certain patch (with seemingly super-cow-lick powers and a mind of it's own) looks to be the silver of wisdom creeping in.

The Para community has brains and experience available far beyond the mundane. Might this have been an engineered incident designed to keep Atsali on the straight and narrow?
Hmmm . . .
Interesting theory, but that's entrapment, which strikes me as too dishonest and unethical for Katherine.

Not unless the coach is a lot better actor than i figure she is.
Proof Positive the world is not flat: If it were, cats would have pushed everything off the edge by now.
Has Kath's hair ever had highlights that indicate shininess?
I have been in "art school." I am as educated in art as many professional artists.
Consider the preponderance of evidence: Kath has just been through an extremely stressful situation (her child lied and put the lives of many other students at risk), she is in her forties, she has two rambunctious kids who are even more stressful than any human children because both of them can eviscerate her in a temper tantrum, and the lack of a precedent of Paul drawing Kath with shiny highlights like this, even after her considerable transformations urging and following the events of The Lost Dolls of the Anasazi.
Also: highlights in hair tend to run perpendicular to the direction of the strands of hair (as can be seen in the very picture you provided... I am not making an absolute statement, but rather an observation pod what usually happens... Yes, I can see the small counter example in that same picture), and artistically speaking, Paul put a dark outline around the hairs that are sticking up out of the top of her forehead, indicating this is not a circumstance dictated by light but rather by color.

If I were to suspect anyone, I would suspect Pickle of engineering the encounter at the toy store to see if Coach Alder takes the bait- which she did- due to the fact that Pickle was the one yelling for more violence before dropping a dime to Momma... now chortling with (who else?) Auntie Nudge over the outcome. Stinkweed is showing her Slytherin, if you ask me...

Also, entrapping your kids that way causes significant long-term consequences . . . and Katherine is smart enough to know that.

Hmmmm . . .
Pickle is talking to Nudge . . . presumably without the knowledge of anyone else . . . And how did Nudge get her name again?

Hmmmm . . .
Wouldn't surprise me if Tanta Nudge was involved in the whole thing somehow.
Nudge may seem to suffer ADHD, but she can play the Long Game - consider her interactions with Shelly.

I'm wondering if either Nudge or Phix set the whole thing up . . . which would also explain Mrs Adler's apparent stupidity.
edit: On second thought, if Phix was involved, Nudge probably exceeded instructions.

Okay - now i'm thinking of when Maxima caught one of Harem and gave her an atomic wedgie.
The cascading chaos in ARCSwat HQ as all of Harem felt what the others were feeling as they stumbled, ran into things, etc., in a feedback loop was wonderful.
OMG yes... that was Epic!
I think the little tumbleweed is a bit more on top of things than her age would suggest...
I say there is certainly the front-to-back shinny part highlighting the darkness of her hair, But there seems to be a new, small, portion towards the front (right, facing her) that looks to be 'Mom Stripes' in terms of grey or whitened hair.
Temporary suspension of the maintenance subroutines, allowing for a buildup of alcohol.
Or it's an act.
