Is that balloon a case of "This space intentionally left blank"?

They can function because they aren't loaded, just firing blanks?

I was wondering that myself . . .

Or is it the sound of one hand clapping?

I note that Shelly is nearly the same size as Connie and Pickle . . . that supports the dream idea.

Don't see a blank balloon now... Pablo fixed?

The arrow through the head is a nice classic touch... but I'm not sure just who is touching whom.

Made me think of this Cold War Classic....

"You know the Bedford will never fire first... but if he fires one I'll fire one..."

"FIRE ONE!!!"

You know that light at the end of the tunnel?

Yeah... it's a bullet. Sorry.

Yep. It's the one that now says "Just one good pull and we should have the good doctor back on her feet."

Could it be that it's just an illusion putting me back in all this confusion?
Could it be that it's just an illusion now?
Could it be a picture in my mind? Never sure exactly what I'll find.

Huh? Update usually occurs at midnight CDT (UTC -6 hours), so it's 15-or-so hours out.

If this actually is a "Phix fell asleep during a movie, and incorporated the plot into a dream" sequence, then Phix has a problem: she dare not ever tell anyone about it.
  • Pickle would be dreadfully disappointed about all of the fun that she missed, by not actually being there.
  • Of the four participants (Castela, Shelly, Nudge, and Connie), can you pick even one of them who would not immediately insist "Hey, that's a great idea, let's do it for real right now!" as soon as she heard the story?
The only problem with this whole scenario is that it came a bit early. As our local college station KFJC points out every year, the Month of Mayhem doesn't start for another three weeks or so.

On the off chance it's not a dream, it's some sort of trickster(s) screwing with Phix. Fae, tanuki, mujina, kitsune, or Coyote, or some combination thereof are all likely culprits and working in cahoots with Shelly, Connie, and Pickle. In the event it's not a dream, anyways.

Who knows, maybe Raven has gotten involved.

Two of those (Coyote and Raven) are actually Nudge in the Wapsiverse. Fae are not normally allowed in the library IIRC (Cricket was an exception because she was summoned to the Library). The rest are unknowns in the Wapsiverse as far as I know. They may exist there, they probably exist there, but we haven't had contact with them that I can remember. If we have it has been a brief glimpse in the background or a single-panel encounter.
