Medically, I believe it's referred to as "fulminant overthinking", and it's definitely a known cause of 'splodey-head.
It's clear that Jessie is familiar with the signs and symptoms.

Do you know what would pull them out of it Jessie? Introduce them to your friend Atsali. Call them on their petty theories and show Atsali to be the nerdy, happy go lucky bird brain that she is. Then put the bug in her ear to introduce everyone to her aunts and relatives. I guarantee a good time will be had by all.
"oh great elder ones why did you make so many idiots and oh by the way their breeding!!!"
Dear, don’t bore him with trivia or burden him with your past mistakes. The happiest way to deal with a man is never to tell him anything he does not need to know. L. Long

Not just unsure. They are scared of being wrong. They are so desperate to be accepted, or at least not rejected, they will double, triple, or quadruple think events. In fear of making the wrong move they convince themselves to make the wrong move. Then blame Sali as she must have set them up to fail because they are not cool kids. Kinda sad when you get right down to it.
Ambush questions are fun. Watching the mental impact of them as they distort, or crumble, opinions based on faulty logic.
BAH!!! I turn 61 in August and I am QUITE happy with my circumstances! It's all about attitude...
Entropy say you need to grow old. NOTHING say you need to grow up. I'm with you, Sarge, and not far behind...
