Coming Attractions

Post by AnotherFairportfan »

Having just dropped by Paul's eBay store, i think i can predict that Lilith will not be just a one-shot character, that one or more of our favourite vamps will be manifesting before too long, and Katherine will be putting the Fear of Gilchrist in someone.

Well, you might be right- but also consider the fact that 'Mama Bear' fits in nicely w/ Mothers' Day...

Still, I've learned from this forum about Chekhov's gun...

Ah, you're right! I wonder where that flintlock went after Bud tackled her...

Probably got imbedded into a ceiling or floor. Maybe someone (hopefully) managed to hook up a winch to it and extricate it, and then put it in to a safe, like a responsible gun owner should have.

And WHY was such an archaic gun even LOADED? I mean, it takes a while to load those suckers, even if it was just a pistol. Bud would have noticed Jin preparing and inserting a charge and ramming the ball down the barrel with a rod.

I dunno whose gun that was, but I have a bucketful of scorn, and I'm just waiting to dump it on them.

Considering that it was Jin's home/condo/apartment/place they were in at the time, I'd guess the gun would have to have been Jin's. No telling why she'd keep it around in a ready-to-fire condition... but she wasn't terribly rational right around then, and I'm sure it Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time.

Why a flintlock? Having seen every bit of "a history of firearms through the ages" play through almost five dozen times, perhaps she felt the flintlock was somehow more elegant than today's coldly-functional cartridge weapons?

I'm kinda glad she chose that one... it, and the subsequent discussion handed me one of the best pun-setups I've ever been graced with.

For those of you who don't want to look it up:

Well, we can’t say Paul didn’t give us warning on this one.

Just after Jim rebooted, she complained about how cold it was.

We should have known, from that comment, that she had a flintlock handy.

She was telling us “Hey, it’s frizzen in here!” and was going to steel a moment to use it.

Do not bother to put something other than your whole self into the pun jar.

And screw the lid shut after you.

Well, if suffocating in the Pun Jar is to be my fate, I can’t claim it’s not a deserved one. Many of my friends, and most of my family would probably say it’s many years overdue. All I can do is accept it with quiet dignity and grace (as Dr. Frankenstein put it), and blame it all on Bill Scott and Jay Ward.

I will, however, insist on one thing. The music at the wake must include a recording of the Glasstown United church choir, singing that stirring hymn Gloria! An Asphyxis Day, Oh!.

Ah -- almost the sound of a perfect pitch.

What's a perfect pitch you ask? The sound of an accordion landing in the dumpster on top of the bagpipes you threw in yesterday.

Quite a perfect pitch after that wind up...
Yanno how some people have Angels/Devils for a conscience? I have a Dark Elf ShadowKnight and a Half Elf Ranger for mine. The really bad part is when they agree on something.

Yup.

It's not so difficult. I have a nice soft mattress below me, and a comfy blanket above me. I lie down, sandwiched between these two warm comforters, and close my eyes, and I think for a moment of the wails of agony and howls of dismay as GlytchMeister sees my latest pun, and I drift off to sleep without any problems.

It's surprising, how well a tasty eye-scream sandwich at bedtime will settle you down for a snooze.
