I think a Sonata will haul 8 bags of mulch. Especially if it's a rental.

Like this last weekend I found out my Sonic will withstand 6 18x12" 50lb concrete paving stones in the back before the board covering the spare tire storage starts to seriously bend. The other 3 had to go up front on the floorboard.

while it's nothing dramatic as all that weight, i was thoroughly impressed last summer when i saw a totally white, pimped out with spinner tires and gold trim (vs chrome) and ALL the flashy doodads, Cadillac Escalade driving down the street in front of me with at least a cubic yard of nice, fresh, smelly MANURE in the back... that is the first time that I've EVER seen a vehicle that expensive and "status symbol" actually being USED AS a cargo carrying device, and not for some wimpy ol' bikes or kayaks, either! it was filled up completely to the edges with a mound in the middle of manure....

That's one reason why mine is a Suburban, NOT a luxury vehicle like an Escalade... If I want to convey anything, it's the image of a working truck, not a status thing!

Even if it is carpeted through and through, and has three row seating... It can still handle a work load, when you take the third row out and fold down the second row...
(I've helped several people move, I've carried about a dozen empty loading pallets, etc...)

Totally serious. Besides, I don't think I'd even know how to troll...

It's easy to take anecdotal instances like the one linked above to mock and decry abstinence education. It may even seem humorous, on the surface, to do so. But one needs to have a balanced view of things, and know the real facts, too. Read the report I linked to. Abstinence works. Period.

That's odd... When I look at Focus on the Family, I see a pro-bible, pro-traditional family, pro-life, pro-health organization that tries to help people in their difficulties through Bible-based, proven methods...

It isn't just anecdotal.

When I said anecdotal, I meant the kind of "ha ha, this pro abstinence well known personality's daughter got pregnant" kind of story... All those stories prove is that humans are a fallen creature, with a sinful nature.

Abstinence only education has been shown to be ineffective over and over and over and over again.

So I guess we're at the point of you showing me your left-leaning studies that "prove" that abstinence-only programs don't work, while I show you my right-leaning studies that "prove" that abstinence-only programs work, and we both believe ourselves to be right...
I just hope we can remain civil about it...
Incidentally, while the study (third link I provided) was mentioned by and linked to by Focus on the Family, it was not made BY them... But just as you are quick to show links to studies that seem to support your point of view, you can't blame FOTF for linking to studies that support theirs...


I, for one, would certainly like to see anyone positively prove that there is a better way to avoid teen pregnancy or STDs than to remain a virgin until marriage, and to remain faithful to one's spouse once married... I just won't hold my breath while waiting...

The funny thing is, I have Kindle Fire HD tablets, and they don't like the mobile versions

I'm less than astonished. So far I haven't found a site where the mobile version is as convenient and easy to use ON MY PHONE as the desktop version.

(And then there was the one site that was all "Oh, you're on a mobile device! I'll redirect you to the top page of the mobile version!" - on EVERY page in BOTH versions. Destroying all functionality.)

So how about that EM drive all the geeky websites are going on about? I keep seeing thriller headlines saying NASA accidentally invented a Warp Drive, and then I see sites like Forbes and Wired saying that it's a load of crap, on varying levels (it's not a warp engine, or it does warp space time, but not like that, or it's not even a real engine, just some cooky idiot trying to get attention or something).

The problem I notice the most about the abstinence-only sex ed is that it is religiously motivated, and aimed at people who are at an age when they question authority a lot. It basically was (as I recall, anyway; that was about 13 years ago) a bunch of people saying "no sexual activity of any kind until you're married, because God said no!" Stupid, really, because not everyone is going to believe the same thing, and horny teens are gonna be curious. But they did tell us about STDs, so there was that.

What I think might have helped would have been to instead say not to engage in vaginal intercourse because we're still young and it'd be so much better to just wait until we're able to get our feet under ourselves before we wind up needing to take care of a baby. Becoming a parent (with any intention of being a responsible one) can't be easy, even with a high income.

Though I can't say this about every abstinence-only program since I only encountered the one, they kind of acted like having sex before you got married meant you actually didn't care about that person at all.

I haven't had sex yet (and for some reason my parents are both annoyed by it), but I've got a few reasons for it.

Also, and I don't know why I didn't think of this when I started this post, there's this one little thing people need to think of when it comes to making policies:

Everyone is different, and has a different set of circumstances. What may work well for one person may work just a little for another, and actually cause problems for another. This doesn't apply just to the whole sex ed thing, either. But I don't really have time to go into that.

As for the draft beer services... do they deliver booze so you don't have to visit the liquor store?
