I've heard it said that one of the most dangerous things you can do, is throw an unexpected punch at a partially-trained martial artist. S/he will have developed a lot of the automatic block-and-hit-back reflexes, and a lot of power, but won't yet have enough experience to automatically select between a nominal response and one which breaks bones or kills.

I imagine that the same is true for one with SEAL or similar military training, especially if they've been in a combat situation any time recently.

Well-honed combat reflexes can save your life, but the risk of collateral damage can be severe.

Dave: the problme is, she is getting very old, so while she can walk etc, most of her sight and hearing has gone, though she can lip-read very well... :)

Iron Fist initially came to mind...

In a previous post somebody was remarking on her facial markings, likes it's a new thing.
But they have been part of the 'War-Bird' aspect as seen for example in the mini-arc when her sister (the stink-weed*) was filming her dancing, who then took off running with her cell phone & they subsequently faced off against each other... ( <--- huh, at least I think that was the good example; my recollecting tapers off with Calista being held by her ankle, upside down, just having retrieved the phone [and a remote control?] from a cleavage spelunking expedition. )

I think it's all part of her Siren-ess.

The fisty thing though, Hmm, well has she needed to actually punch-the-Hell out of something up to this point?

Yep, Wapsi Square has a new main protagonist, and Monica is now definitely part of the supporting players.....

The 8ball shirt is like the Tux from that Jackie Chan movie. Only in this case like the 8 ball we knew as kids when you shake it, it comes up with the power you need. Hey M wore that shirt every time before a power upgrade.

... correct me if I am wrong, but I thought only the MALE of the species was eligible for such training...

true as for the semantics of the sentence, but i agree with the Sgt... trained "as a seal" implicitly implies that she is undergoing said training, given by Official Seal Trainers, therefore she would only be allowed to attend the courses by being enlisted to BECOME a Seal... ergo G.I. Jane... the Demi Moore movie about a female Seal... not sure if it was based on a true story, or if it was pure Hollywood, but... a quick Google search shows the Navy Seal and Army Ranger programs will, in theory be open to females sometime in late 2015/16... so i'm not sure how to take this, is she just a well trained Martial Artist, and doesn't want to whack somebody by accident? or have they opened up training early and she's one of them?
