It didn't run under the last few versions of Windows, but apparently Win8.1's compatibility checker can fix it.

Last time I played it was on XP Pro. Now you've made me curious to see if I can get it running on my 7 Ultimate 64bit system.

Most if not all 64-bit versions of W7 can no longer run 16-bit software; i am unable to play Sim City 3000 on this machine.

I miss Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. There's a fix to play it on Vista, but it was so complicated I never worked on it too hard. I need to revisit that.

It's not a 16 bit program. Was able to install and run with no compatibility settings necessary. Screenshot I took of the game just a few minutes ago running on my computer. Works both fullscreen and windowed mode using Alt+Enter.

I didn't know whether it was 16-bit or not; was just suggesting that that might be a reason if it doesn't run.

huh. Now I'm curious to see if I can get Quake (2x, 3x, Doom, Wolfenstein, etc) running on a (64bit) Linux machine...

Then I can call me 'Smartypants...'

Nope, I'm working on using 'real' game data/maps but a native engine.

The Wine I'm looking to try w/ Photoshop, for replacing a photography friend's XP OS...
