When Momma is a person six times over, you gotta think that the emotional skillz are enhanced to some degree.

Damnit Paul! I'm getting teary eyed from all of these feels! Paul truly knows how to tug the heart strings. The last panel was great. You have to be careful with the heart of a adopted child. They can be very fragile and easily hurt. So hopefully Cath can heal the rift between her two children once more.

Kath's child rearing kung fu is strong... and Castela is looking more human than we've seen her in that last panel...

My thought on this is that, since Castela just finished hearing how hugging the rose bush had hurt Katherine, she wanted to make sure there was no chance of her doing so while she hugged Katherine.

Just because Paul drew them does not mean she is that way. We have no idea about what life experiences she will have to form her. With Kathy I am sure she'll be basically a good person. As to how she dresses who th eheck knows why they wear what they wear.AnotherFairportfan wrote:Dealing with an eight- and a six-year-old, i keep finding myself sounding like MY grandfather: "Don't be sorry, be careful!"Skywatcher68 wrote:Lily is why.zachariah wrote:While pickle is a powerful para why are we assuming she is like a hand grenade about to go off?

The link to Lily is about Lily's fears based upon how other para's treat vampires. Not specifically because she thinks pickle is going to kill her. That is paranoia talking not reality. The rest is due to the fact Pickle knows she cannot be physically hurt and is showing off running with scissors. I still think it is jumping to a conclusion that is not valid.
Ambush questions are fun. Watching the mental impact of them as they distort, or crumble, opinions based on faulty logic.

Paul said she goes through a rebellious phase when he posted the seventeen-year-old one.
Pretty sure he wouldn't publish something like the age twenty-one image, that implies a capacity for possibly ruthless violence and rage' if it wasn't more-or-less canonical.

If we look at picture of M in full Jaguar Girl mode she in no way looks soft and cuddly. That in no way reflects what she looks like in day to day mode. In normal view Atsali would cause nearly any males brain to not function well (and at lest one female), In combat mode all anyone is thinking is run for your life. We just dont know what mode Pickle was in when Paul drew this images.AnotherFairportfan wrote:Paul said she goes through a rebellious phase when he posted the seventeen-year-old one.

Yes yes i get all excited at thinking she may be the female Waspiverse version of Wolverine but we just dont know. Yes i had noticed this was a school for gifted students ala the X-Men.

I've posted only once since the comic began, but this is so adorable that I can't keep silent. Bravo!
Incidentally, why are people speculating on why Katherine spent two weeks in the hospital after hugging a rosebush? Surely it's a parable, not biography.
Incidentallier, that previous post was on 2014-04-01, concerning Pickle's incredibly insightful and adultly-phrased advice. I got the same impression a couple weeks ago when she said 'Will you need me to find ways to bring you to the attention of the boy you think is cute that you wrote about in your journal?' Not only incredibly insightful (and incidentalliest, what does Pickle know about stalking?), but a complex and perfectly grammatical construction that is incredibly unlikely coming from a five-year-old, even one raised in a laboratory. 'Bring you to the attention of X' for 'get X to notice you', forsooth. I feel more strongly than ever that we are seeing only the tip of the Castela iceberg.

I wouldn't worry about the adult Castela. She's probably taking up a similar role as her Aunt Monica. Super-Powered Adventurer!

In my younger days I had to jump through two rather thick rose hedges. . .the second one whilst stark nekkid, because the blanket I was wearing opted to remain behind in the thorns of the first one. I had some rather considerable gashes all over, spent a while digging loose thorns out of myself, and had some lovely infections in the days that followed. I suppose that if Katherine got some bad cuts that got infected, or deep cuts around some major veins such as near her wrists, or if she had trouble with her platelets, then she might have had to stay in the hospital for a bit to make sure things went as they should.JSStryker wrote:One thing I am curious about is if Kath hugged a rose bush and spent 2 weeks in the hospital, was it an allergic reaction or something else?
Or she could just be engaging in some hyperbole to make her point.
Lettuce keep that in mind: there may be more going on in her head than leaves her mouth.Treesong wrote:I feel more strongly than ever that we are seeing only the tip of the Castela iceberg.

(1) Castella can (and has) killed Fey. Something quite a few powerful paranormals would NOT be able to do.
(2) her 'battle mode' (for want of better words) looks to be very stabby stabby http://wapsisquare.com/comic/be-still/
