(3.785411784 liters per gallon, which works out to $4.73 CND per gallon.)

And that's the lowest I've seen it in a while... Usually, it hovers around $1.35-$1.45 per liter ($5.11 - $5.48 CND per gallon)

interesting ... where I am in Australia, the price for unleaded petrol is about $1.50/Litre ($AUD).
(at current exchange rates, in USD that's about $1.32/Litre and in CND $1.48/Litre)

Fuel is about 10c cheaper in our capital city, but that is about 1,357 kilometer drive (each way), so going there to get cheaper fuel is not an option .

Well, if you factor in conversion, it is a little less in US$ Yesterday's rate, according to PayPal, was $1 CND = $0.872501 US ... So that would work out to $4.45 to $4.78 US per gallon on average, and $4.12 US per gallon at current prices.

When I was in Haiti, in 2004 and 2010, the missionary we were visiting was talking about $4/liter gas prices, but I forget if it was in $US or $CND...

Maggie, unfortunately, is going to be in her younger sister's shadow most of her life, i'm afraid - Natalie just has a louder personality and she's more conventionally "cute"...

Ever since they came into use, as a long-time photographer, i've had problems with the terms "landscape" and "portrait" for image orientations. They are - always have been, always will be - "horizontal" and "vertical".

And now we have devices with "front" cameras on the backs by any rational definition, and "rear" cameras on the front.

The "front" of the device is the side you point at what you want to shoot.

So here's a selfie, taken with the "front" camera on the back of my tablet, just to see how good it would do in decent light. The answer is "not very good":



And here's one taken using the "rear" camera on the front of the device, using an app called "SmartSelfie" that has face-detection and tells you which way to turn the thing to get the best image.

The quality of the image is better - the "front" camera on the tablet is a lot better than the "rear" camera. The content of the image is just about as dismal as the previous one.

Had to stand under the brightest light in the kitchen for it to be able to work.

Oh, man... that reminds me of walking from the RIT computer center, to my shared townhouse in Colony Manor (about a mile away) during a raging white-out blizzard back around 1974 or so. Even with a chamois face mask on, my beard was pretty much solid-frozen condensed exhalation by the time I staggered through the front door.

I was about to question how a revolver can even hold 8 rounds until a quick Gurgle check informed me that's the average capacity of a .357 Magnum.

Anyways, I gotta know: (1) How does this even happen?? and (2) Wouldn't the barrel being blocked like that make the gun explode?

Small wonder they decided to sacrifice the gun to make an example. I don't think there's a ramrod made, anywhere in the Universe, that could have cleared that jam. Maybe they could have drilled 'em out without completely destroying the barrel, but I dunno...

No, that's the average capacity of those Special Very Expensive hand-made/hand-tuned weapons.

(2) Wouldn't the barrel being blocked like that make the gun explode?

Revolvers tend to be a bit sturdier than are automatics, not needing to have all the little fiddly bits to channel the gas pressure into working the action. As long as the gun was properly made and there was time between each shot, the pressure shouldn't have built up to the point where it would rupture. The gasses probably vented out through the openings around the cylinder. Which could have given the shooter some nice burns on his/her/its hands if the gun was held in some ways.

That makes things much more effective when the Shooter runs out of ammunition and throws the weapon at the Villain...

In an automatic, the round is completely sealed in the chamber between the bolt and the barrel. In a revolver, because of the rotating cylinder, there a small gap between the front of the cylinder and the barrel. The fit is tight, so most of the pressure from the burning power goes down the barrel, but a significant part escapes from the gap also. See here, where the first pistol has more of a gap than the second one. Also -- Mythbusters!
