There may also be a display of relationships on Castela's wall, probably more emotional than physical.

Mama Katherine is centered (hearts and all) and may well be the center of Castela's universe.
Grandma Lily (tears and all) is on the same level and next to Mama.
Aunt Monica (Mama's friend, astral fire) is also on the same level and next to Mama.

Susie (Lily's partner in the FBI) is next to Grandma Lily and Aunt Bud.
Aunt Bud (haystack hair) is next to Mama and Suzie - both helped Mama on her grand adventure. Aunt Bud also touches Atsali and Aunt Shelly who is Aunt Bud's friend.

Aunt Jin (the Timekeeper's daughter) touches Aunt Monica - the two have become fast friends.
Aunt* Brandi (the former Chessmaster) touches Aunt Jin and Atsali. Both Brandi and Bud were involved with Atsali during Mama's grand adventure.

Suzie overlaps Aunt Shelly a bit. I don't recall Paul showing or telling us anything about a relationship between Suzie and Shelly. As far as I know, they first met at U296 during "Ladies Night". They are both guardians of sorts and have both protected Monica at one time or the other.

Atsali is also centered but at a distance. Not surprising considering the friction between the two sisters, but they are still there for one another.

* While Castela refers to Bud and Jin as Aunt, I don't recall her using that term for Brandi.

Top: Shelly, Atsali, Brandi, Jin.
Middle left: Suzie (with the gun) and Bud.
Bottom: Granma Lily, Momma Katherine, and Monica (astral fire all around).

EDIT: Confirmation from Pablo about Monica.
I'm looking at the order in which the pictures were put up, determined primarily by which pictures are overlapped by other pictures.

Granting that at least three factors could dilute the significance: there may be some degree of deliberate arrangement; some of the pictures currently on the wall may be replacing older pictures; and of course I may just be overanalyzing something Pablo did without much thought.

Oldest picture up there: Atsali. At an unlikely height above the bed, given Castela's size. (Sure, she can stretch a branch or three up that high; but for the first picture going up, why would she?) But it would make sense for Atsali to be drawn first, as Castela had a bond with her before she met any of the others even including Mama Katherine.

After Atsali, the next ones put up were Bud and Brandi. No obvious way to determine the order of these two. After that, Shelly and Jin. Then Suzie and Monica; followed by Katherine, and then Lily. I say Lily is the newest because of the tears, but I suspect that picture was originally drawn about the same time as Suzie's (really close in style) and the tears are a recent addition.

It would also make sense for Katherine to be one of the newer pictures, because she's one that Castela would likely do new drawings of. Interestingly, that drawing is much different in style from the others. Alternatively, Pickle deliberately keeps her picture on top: she is Mama, after all.

Good of you to do, friend, but it's probably redundant... I think the entire Forum is equipped with an invisible, bright red SPECULATION ZONE warning sign.

I think the order of the pictures is determined by how often they are updated. Lily is on top at the bottom because this is a new one of her with the tears. Kathryn also gets updated often. Atsali less often, because she doesn't do anything new or memorable (from Castela's point of view, she has known her the longest) that often. Monica is from the incident at school.

Interesting to note that of all of them Kathryn is just the face, while the rest have a body.

Good point. I suspect that Mama's face is what Castela focuses on the most. The smile and loving eyes being a huge source of love and security for Pickle.

Looks like she shares a storytelling style with her aunt.

Suzie's eyes are the only ones not filled in. (Is she blue-eyed? I ferget...)

Took me a while to figure out what you meant by that. Well caught.

Truth be told, I'm thinking Pickle, the Sweet Pea, she of the Blackest of Thorns and ... oh ferget it,

Thorny's art is actually more developed than the standard Shellyvision. (But then Shelly be sometimes concussed and sometimes inebriated...).

I suspect it is after this scene http://wapsisquare.com/comic/castel-enora-gilchrist/
"You are not abandoned, and I will never leave you" means a lot to that child. Having that load of love given to her just because and without having to ask for it means more than the world.

There haven't been many coloured pics of Pratt & McBride*, and the few that are coloured make focusing on the eyes somewhat difficult. ;) However, Suzi does wear her glasses pretty consistently, so that's probably why Pickle didn't fill in her eyes in the drawing.

Are you sure? Even the more simplistic ones do tend to carry quite a few details, particularly for the heads...

(Well, damn, where did I lay that time machine?, I need to go back and make a post never have happened...).

I suppose what I was recalling was the simpler open-line style of the body vs forgetting the detail of things like expressions on the faces...

Pickle's pix, while cruder appropriate to her age, has done a more consistent job of using blocky whole shapes vs the (admittedly more refined) stick figures in the Shellyvision POV.

I had forgotten the subtlety but recalled the stick-figure aspect...

Unicorns are OK. But not a horse. Well, maybe a horse. I know a guy, his horse is amazing!

My oldest daughter drew me a picture similar to those, back when she was 5... My brother had just died, I was living in Toronto, Ontario, at the time, while the funeral would take place in the province of Québec, and I could not afford to take the family with me. In fact, I believe it was my mom who paid for my bus ticket...

When I came back, my daughter had drawn a picture of a guy with a cowboy hat (obviously myself) who was crying, while standing next to a tombstone that read "Papa's brother". I still have it, but can't remember where I put it. If I find it, I'll scan it and show you guys.
