Your assignment, Mr. Phelps, should you decide to accept it:
1. Draw 5 stick figures in a row on a piece of paper. Just standing, walking, or whatever. Don't bother with head details if you don't want to.
2. Later that day, draw five more in a row below the first set.
3. Before bed, draw five more below the others.
4. The next day, do it again. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Somewhere around the 3rd or 4th page, try having them do something. Walking. Jumping. Going up stairs. Looking over a cliff. Think of the emotion involved in what they're doing.
Eventually, add eyes of some kind and maybe a mouth. Big eyes. Dot eyes. Smile, frown, growl with teeth. What emotion are you drawing?
Let it grow from there!

Can I use a circle template?
I tired to drawer a Wapsi/Beetle Bailey mashup based on the cliff gag. It wasn't pretty...

This was originally done for Kingklash in sepia with bullet holes and cracked window. Since Kaibyo said something about nose art, I thought I'd post the colored version of this until I or someone else does Phix as a nose art.

My first ever real piece of fanart and not just a digital hackjob of someone else's work. Parts drawn by hand, scanned, then pieced together. Got a headache from the Sharpie fumes.

Thanks for the kind words...
I used the pen tool to outline the feathers and laid in a gradient from black to white, fiddling that a bit according to where they were placed. After that put the entire layer on overlay mode.
I'm a little on the fence about how it looks. I think the straight gradient looks a little off. I'm going to play with that....

The super long shape and closeup faces of panels 2 and 3 inevitably made me think of the cut scenes from the original NES game Ninja Gaiden. This is the result.
If anyone can recommend a good freeware video editor that will let me piece together the existing still frames and sound from scratch I want to make a more elaborate version with more animation and proper speed.

shadowinthelight, I've been meaning to complement your work because I like it. This in particular is really neat!! Thank you for showing us!

I just went through this section and the art is great! Some of it is absolutely hilarious. I assume this is all officially sanctioned by Paul.
I also just watched a video on the legal aspects of Fan Art. Tricky stuff. I think it would be nice if Paul posted a sticky note at the beginning of this section detailing what is not allowed concerning the fan art placed here. I'm pretty sure explicit sex would not be allowed, but what about explicit gore? Or a re-arranging of characters in a panel, or creating whole new panels by copying and pasting various characters? How about a flash animation using existing panels?

Thanks, now we just need to find somebody to code the Wapsi Square NES game and make carts . He/she would have to be pretty talented too because I think I screwed up and used too many colors too close together around Monica's top and Shelly's mouth. Might have to do something fancy like have sprites over the background...
