Go Shelly, whack the silly girl with a clue-by-four. Her power is obvious to everyone except her.

I presume it means she's glyph reader. Last thread, someone asked where Monica would POIT if attacked at home. The question is where would she POIT an attacker to. Kinda hard to do much of anything buried in the Marinas trench or in the center of the sun.Dave wrote:Beg pardon?
I like that Shelly is showing fang in casual conversion. She seems more relaxed about the whole thing. She may be more accepting of her Sphinx heratige now.

I suspect that, in the two weeks since the Unfortunatey Event at the Library, Shelly has had a few talks with Granny.Boxilar wrote: I like that Shelly is showing fang in casual conversion. She seems more relaxed about the whole thing. She may be more accepting of her Sphinx heratige now.

My archive-fu is weak, thanks to the length of time Pablo has been drawing this comic, but I believe she's been linked to jaguars before.
The Jaguar, if memory serves, is a Mayan symbol of one who moves easily between life and death. It can also explain why she avoided those bullets so well.

She hasn't been so much linked to jaguars as she made comments about the jaguar motif appearing in apparent relationship to the Calendar Machine quest, as i recall.jwhouk wrote:My archive-fu is weak, thanks to the length of time Pablo has been drawing this comic, but I believe she's been linked to jaguars before.

At the time she said that jaguars were messengers.

Re: Jaguar Girl 2012-09-14
Also just found this on Wiki: re: Jaguar -
In Mesoamerica, the Olmec—an early and influential culture of the Gulf Coast region roughly contemporaneous with the Chavín—developed a distinct "were-jaguar" motif of sculptures and figurines showing stylised jaguars or humans with jaguar characteristics. In the later Maya civilization, the jaguar was believed to facilitate communication between the living and the dead and to protect the royal household. The Maya saw these powerful felines as their companions in the spiritual world, and a number of Maya rulers bore names that incorporated the Mayan word for jaguar (b'alam in many of the Mayan languages). The Aztec civilization shared this image of the jaguar as the representative of the ruler and as a warrior. The Aztecs formed an elite warrior class known as the Jaguar Knights. In Aztec mythology, the jaguar was considered to be the totem animal of the powerful deity Tezcatlipoca.
It's also an apex predator.....

Ehrm... what...?
First I thought it was a slang fro something, but Urban Dictionary was unhelpful.
Now I can see that it's not...
PLEASE, Pablo, do not make Monica a supernatural being... She must stay human, that's the whole point of her.
If she had a supernatural origin, that would have had ample time to surface in the ordeals so far...
I'm eagerly awaiting the next strip...

Maybe we're WATCHING her supernatural origin. Sometimes those things take a while (like 80K years).Yarner wrote:Ehrm... what...?

Jaguar.....Girl ??????
Oh my, Shelly's "blabbermouth" persona has nót evapourated when she became "The Sage"
In the immortal words of my Dad, when I, and a friend, by accident, through scientific curiosity, asploded the old dung-cellar: "Sigh...Now Whát?"
The ónly sense-making thing I can come up with, is that the "Temple of the Jaguar" was the place where the calendar machine did it's devious time-looping thing...
Maybe Mon has become Linked in Legend with jaguars because of that??
*sits back, exasperated, silently repeating Dad's words.... a mantra of confusion made real*
