Yeah, Island Numero Dos (aka Cafe U296) already had several hill tops: http://wapsisquare.com/comic/you-are-what-you-eat/

Not quiet from Bia's viewpoint. All Bia knew back then was a Titan like entity made by the Lantians had gotten loose and the blast occurred. From that point on her aim slowly changed to her trying to undo the damage the blast had caused.Boxilar wrote:And now we find out what history Bud has with Bia.
I doubt it is a pleasant one.
For perspective, consider this. To us, Bud is a young woman who was horribly wronged and has been rediscovering her humanity despite being an indestructible golem.
To Bia, Bud, Brandi and Jin are implacable engines of destruction that ended her world.
I'm guessing there are probably some hard feelings between them.
We still don't know what damage Bia is trying to fix but we do know about her methods. About 87,000 years have passed since the blast occurred and in that time Bia has grown from a young girl into a adult. On the way she became one very manipulative B****. He goals are obscure and mostly unknown.
It will be interesting to see if Bud has personal connections to Bia or has she just been helping to pick up the pieces after Bia's plans for a long time? I hope we find out about it. But I kinda doubt we will. I think we will be seeing how the other react to Bud's Blasting The Beach. Then to Bia Blessing the Barastia.
Ambush questions are fun. Watching the mental impact of them as they distort, or crumble, opinions based on faulty logic.

Don't worry about the fixer-upper here, Realtors® work with this kind of stuff all the time. A little paint and landscaping will have you fixed up in no time. >whisper< (Notify Fukashima to pack up their Nuclear plant and move it inland till the waters settle.)

We're back!
YAY!!!
It's amusing to me how the simple mention of a certain character's name can product such strong reactions. Then again...I'm kind of on the same side of things as Bud when it comes to Bia's meddling. Heck...I wasn't even a big fan of Brandi's meddling (though hers was mostly the Nu Gui...which was again, legitimately not good).
I think that people are so much better off not trying to force prophecies or whatever and let free will take its course. Even if the prophecy is a bad one, Master Plans aren't a good idea. Just making informed decisions (and bringing pertinent individuals into the "know" so they can make good decisions as well) should be the most action anyone takes. If I've learned one thing from reading mythology, fiction, sci-fi and fantasy, it's that anyone who tries to either force or avert a prophecy is going to get the results they wished to avoid shoved straight down their throats.

What's impressive is that Bud's pounding of the sand had the following reaction back in Minneapolis:
THOOM!
THOOM!

"In other news; geologists and seismologists are still puzzling over a the pattern of a seismic signature received at several monitoring stations. Most agree the 4.3 shock was not from an earthquake. One observer humorously quipped, "Looks like someone punched an island." Their best guess is a meteor striking a small land mass somewhere in the infamous Bermuda Triangle area. There has been no outside confirmation, however, from anyone viewing anything falling out of the sky. Many are blaming a satellite falling from orbit. Others a secret atomic test. The fringe groups are, as usual, blaming supernatural forces."
And another Bermuda Triangle legend is born.

And we're back. Hope the little guy is fine. And that said...
Bud SMASH!!
This is Monica's fault. From Tina's description she knew Bia was the one messing with Tina; she should have known that the moment Tina said something, it would set off fireworks. That Bud would be the one exploding instead of Shelly or Phix is a surprise, as is that island #3 may be out of action too, now. But rage on someone's part was predictable, and Monica should have been less interested in sunbathing than in dealing with Tina's problems. Which include Bia.

Welcome back Paul . Hope all is well with your Son. As am old P*hart - with only one 31 year old Son - I know how devastated I would be if any thing serious happened to him. He and his Lady are getting married in April and I hope I can last long enough to see a Grandson.
Re: What Did You Say 2014-02-24
I also am surprised that Monica seemed to brush off Bia's mention here as no big thing. After all,Shelly is her best friend, and Monica knows what her mom's death did to her. (I suppose she could be taking her cue on how to think of Bia from Shelly. But so far we have seen no mention of how Shelly thinks of her, although we do see that she calls Phix grandma.) Monica knows that Bia pretended to grow up with Phix's son (Shelly's dad),married him, birthed Shelly, faked her death (devastating Shelly) all as part of a secret plan. The same Bia who brushed off what she did to Shelly as toughening her up.
At least according to Nudge, and Bia didn't deny it.
And Nudge is the sister of...I forget her name! Duh! Who are Charon's daughters. And Charon was the one in the flashback scene with young Bia after the Chimera/Golem girls destroyed the world.
Wouldn't there have been outrage from Monica on Shelly's behalf, and a mistrust of Bia,at the very least? Which makes her attitude now puzzling.
God, I love all the connections, and how the story evolves over the years!

Especially when directly confronting the reason for her anger, and drinking.Dave wrote:Oh, dear. A drunk golem could be a problem. An angry golem could be a problem.
A drunk, angry golem is a problem.
Also, there is a remote, but non-zero chance Bud was working up the courage to ask Tina out. In her own drunken Budly way. But again she discovers the target of her affections has been manipulated by students of Fate.
Well, I suspect we are finally going to see a Glyph Reader induced Time Out. Monica's patience has known limits, and blowing up her island once skirts the edge of that. I would not want to be the golem having done that twice.Sidhekin wrote:Nothing to worry about. Nothing to fear.
Except for some of the most powerful beings on your side.
We don't know if Tina's really reached 3.0 status, or whether that makes her physically less fragile. Everyone else on the island can handle Bud's outburst; but Tina was standing right next to her! I hope she's okay.DilyV wrote:I think Bud sobered up pretty quick at the mention of Bia... I hope she didn't hurt anyone or damage the island too much...
I'm still of the camp that says Bia is not as horrible as she seems; Paul did a lovely portrait of her for my copy of Letting the Dust Settle -- (many thanks; and I hope the kid is feeling better and defeating all comers at school) -- and I believe her worst trait may be no more an extremely slow learning curve.

Is it a kind of spalling effect where you slap one side of an object and shatter the other without disturbing what's in between?
My bad.
So now I'm wondering about the shrapnel effects of supersonic sand on the more vulnerable members of the party.
Re: What Did You Say 2014-02-24
Not to worry. I think we'll find that the sand didn't fly out at supersonic speed. It simply disappeared, and no one will ever know for sure where it went.sheik wrote:You're right.

I suggest this because of how this event happened. Bud blasted the sand away with great power (being a heavily-armed golem). She did it because she knows (or knows of) Bia, and clearly has very strong opinions and feelings about Bia based on something which happened in the past.
Bud's feelings about Bia are not tentative. They are extremely definite. She has already made up her mind about Bia.
What this means, is that the hole she just blasted in the beach qualifies as a "judge-force crater" which means that whatever was there has vanished without a trace.
