Oh well. Now you get to draw the secksy lesbian action right?
What lesbian action? Monica isn't a lesbian. Period.
You have my thanks for shutting down this juvenile stupidity before it had a chance to start.
That expression on M's face may be there just to mirror Atsali's, but if I try to read that panel on its own, I'm getting the impression that the breakup with Kevin was fairly recent. Mark N may be right; it need not be permanent.
I do expect flashbacks though. Show, don't tell, hmm?

She met the Sprout, while "visiting" Tanta Phix.

And that might, by itself, be a very good reason for Atsali to talk with Monica at length, soon.
Atsali can't get rid of her insecurities and angst over her sudden Development by just pretending it didn't happen. She can't suddenly change her status in the world (paranormal or mundane) to make herself so powerful that she won't be teased or judged. She's afraid of being pecked upon and put upon... and I don't think these are purely imaginary risks for her.
But, it might help her a lot to learn first-hand that the mighty and powerful are often just as screwed up and insecure, over just the very same issues, as all the rest of us. Being able to feel "in sisterhood" with the powerful Jaguar Girl might let her feel less alone in this... and maybe more hopeful that it isn't the end of everything.
Yamara wrote:Wow. Assuming she's not talking about a boyfriend she had when she was Atsali's age, ...
Until we know for sure, I'm kind of leaning in that direction. After all, she was sent to the merry mental mansion when she was younger, so any BF she had at the time might have thought she was unstable and dangerous and shuffled off to explore new frontiers. Of course, later on in life the kid discovers we are pretty much all somewhat unstable and dangerous and he might as well have stuck with Monica.
If it is Kevin, that'll really be sad but will open new avenues for her story-wise.
A society should not be judged on how it treats its outstanding citizens but by how it treats its criminals... ~ Fyodor Dostoevsky.
Kevin thingy:
The use of past tense imply this is something M is over with. I guess even with all the action M was thrown in, a break-up with Kevin would have had some serious consequences on Monica's behaviour. Add, M's arms are behind her back, if she was suffering from a breakup, she'd be hugging herself.
If anything, all Waspi's boys are way beyond the normal ken in term of understanding and support. Alan's reaction to Jinx suicide attempt was the saddest thing we saw, and that was due to the way Bud depicted it.
That said, we haven't seen any of them for a very long time, be it Kevin, Alan or even officer tightbun. *hint*
Well. It's an interesting storytelling technique, to have one's characters' lives continue even when they don't have "screentime." Events happen - birthdays, holidays, and (sadly) breakups - when we're not looking.
That said: If Mon is talking about Kevin, it's too bad that he couldn't handle her upgrades. I had thought he was better than that.

I'm not convinced Radio365 is 100% serious. Poe's Law is now in effect.

Well, the good news is that Atsali wasn't trying to keep secret the fact that she is a Siren because of any issues over her looks/body(ies) shape.
The bad news is apparently there is prejudice against Sirens.
"We're written off as sexual predators"
That could mean some serious hatred towards Sirens .

zachariah wrote:From the words it looks like Sali's parents were married and that is not a normal pattern for a female sexual predator.
Actually, I think many, if not most, sexual predators, both male and female, were married at the time of their initial crimes. I believe the majority of the female teachers who prey on students were married at the time, but I'm not certain. That's just what I seem to remember, but I'm not really inclined to research it to find out for sure.
Anyway, now we find out there is yet another group of paranormals considered lowlifes. Maybe most are. The two vampires we know seem to be exceptions to the rule. Justin certainly confirmed that at least some werewolves are truly lowlifes.

There are lowlifes at every level. Like the APO Phix ate. Bia is another, as cold and manipulative B* as anyone would ever not want to meet. Just to name two.
Ambush questions are fun. Watching the mental impact of them as they distort, or crumble, opinions based on faulty logic.
NO!!! She can't lose Kevin!!!
Kevin seemed so right for her.
Dang! Dang!! Dang!!!
Notice we haven't seen Kevin in a while, but we haven't seen several characters in close to 3-4 months.
But several months our (real) time can be only days in the Wapsi Square world.
Is The Earth On A Diet?
With just one million people losing weight,
so after each one had lost 'one pound' ...
will the earth weigh 1,000,000 pounds less?

Wasn't there something about there being basically "shoot on sight" orders in effect on some paranormals out in what could laughably be referred to as the "Real World"?
Justin's ex-girlfriend can't be taken as representative of werewolves as a whole, any more than humans with extreme kinks or fetishes are representative of humanity as a whole.

If it's true she doesn't have Kevin anymore, I'm a little sad we haven't seen it yet. But I suppose bringing it up is a good enough excuse to flashback to it at some point in time? Please?
NO! KEVIN!!! This CAN'T be! How could he walk away from THAT???
Jin! Quit fooling around learning how to live again with Alan! Get over here and manipulate Monica and Kevin back together! And make it stick this time! (This would also be good because we haven't seen Jin in a long time, either, and it'd be nice to know how she's doing.)
Complete digression: Paul, I presume you're aware of the old trick of slightly rotating the pattern for different areas so there's an edge rather than it being continuous across major discontinuities... that doesn't simulate it following curves, of course, and it's a bit of a hassle, and your current approach certainly works well enough; just making sure it's actually an artistic decision. (My father was an ad-man and did more than his share of his own paste-ups, so I have a tiny bit of knowledge -- which does not mean skill -- in that area.)
Maybe they should have Shelley do the introductions? "And this dork over here is Monica..."

If Monica is so important, then this is part of her duties.
I don't think it's so much part of the Jaguar Girl's duties, as it is that she's been chosen because of her two huge qualifications. if there's one thing Monica's shown that she's come to terms with, it's the size of her breasts.
As for the breakup, I'm with the people thinking it's a past relationship, not Kevin.
Whoever coined the phrase "more fun than a barrel of monkeys" obviously never spent an afternoon cramming the little buggers into one.
Keep in mind, when Monica went through puberty, she went through it as an ordinary human girl. No superpowers. And she was well into adulthood before she found out about the supernatural world. She's a good choice to talk to Atsali.
