If the Ursa's guess about Atsali's look is correct then her dad may have been a Wood Elf.
The wood elves avoid humans generally. It was the high elves that actually married some. Now a wood elf might be interested in Pickle in the future. We could ask Monica, after all she is part pixie.
Ambush questions are fun. Watching the mental impact of them as they distort, or crumble, opinions based on faulty logic.

Syr'nj and her kid sister Fyr'nj are definitely not avoiding humans...
Also, what does avoiding humans have to do with hooking up with a siren?

DilyV, if you ever decide to do stand-up comedy, please let us know... I think the tickets will sell out in a jiffy!
Best laugh I've had all day!
Something tells me that Pickle and Atsali have had this going on for a lot longer than we've known... Pickle sure knows how to put a burr under Atsali's saddle, and seems to revel in it.

Did I miss something? Or are we just extrapolating that from her comment about wishing she'd inherit physical traits from her dad instead of her mom? If so, that might be a bit of a leap considering our information pool. She did say specifically that her mom had the same body type, as opposed to making reference to the whole species.

There may not even BE male sirens. Seems to me that there are more than a few mythical species that come in only one gender.

Foghorns?
You know you might, I say you might just be on to something there, son!
ARRG! I've been trying to get that voice out of my head since I was a kid. I could never stand to watch Foghorn Leghorn segments. The character just annoyed the crap out of me.

Problem is, then I'd miss all the fun.

To have reached the age of 58, without ever having known that Foghorn Leghorn was actually a riff on an earlier radio-show character. Some aspects of my historicamal edumication were clearly neglected.
Quite a few of Mel Blanc's characterisation are more or less inspired by real people - Henery Hawk is Jimmy Cagney to a T, and Bugs Bunny has a touch of Cagney, too.

I'm going with she was binding herself, and shouting at Castela used up more air than she's able to breathe (barely any). She's probably got herself wrapped down pretty tightly, and is using layers to minimize (a common trick), the rest is art style/obfuscation. The clothing was actually good foreshadowing now that I see it. She doesn't usually wear as much.
HA! I didn't pick up on the number of layers either. That explains a bit better how the binding wasn't noticeable. It still reeks of comic physics, but I'm totally okay with that.
DilyV wrote:If she is bound up, she somehow did it herself. I don't seen Kath being that stupid after telling Atsali it was a bad Idea. But then... didn't Kath see her on her way out?
Oh no...she absolutely would have needed help to get it that tight. If she got the help from Kat, I'd be kind of surprised, but Kat may also just want to do something to make her happy until she can bring in the "professional" to help Atsali deal with her new assets.
