I don't know about nowadays, but into the mid-50s at least, there were some places in the area where the road crossed the Rocky River (i think) on a ford - a concrete slab that the water ran shallowly across* - and apparently the bridle paths did the same.

They got halfway across and Aunt Jane discovered why her horse was named that...
Hmmm... I'm a little puzzled. But googling horses and Steamboat I get this very interesting article...

This symbol has been a part of the University of Wyoming Athletics Department since the early 1920's, when UW Equipment Manger Deane Hunton obtained a photograph of a cowboy, Guy Holt, riding the world famous bucking horse Steamboat. http://www.gowyo.com/trads/steamboat.html

Might this be related?!
Nope. Remember i was responding to this:

Right, then: my own attempt at the "hot woman with a car" pin-up.

Hopefully my attempts to put that link here won't break the Internet.

I think I found the perfect vehicle to represent Tina - and may give insight as to how she managed to run over her own arm parallel parking:

What, you're not gonna post this one with all the great cars here?

Well, here's a song for some of them, at least

Note the vehicle at about 0:28 or so. Put me in mind of something:

Then, of course, there's this song for cars in general...

Which was used in a great VW commercial in the '80s... (Which i can't find)

...but then there was also this VW spot...

Somebody Stop me

Or maybe not. Perhaps we need to make a "Wapsi Square Fans Cruising playlist"?

...and then there was the Land Rover commercial showing it as a family car all 'round the world, ending with a clip set in Africa, where the mother says (in Swahili, i suppose) "If I have to turn this car around..."

I recall this song from a Mitsubishi ad (which I can't find, of course). This one is good for muscle cars of all stripes. 8-)

You should be seeking some sort of help.

That would explain the backups on I-94 just west of downtown.

That and that weird curve they have right by Hennepin Avenue...
