He may have ret-conned the sequence to put the Friday Cliffhanger in proper position. Not a problem, but if you haven't saved the fillers somewhere, you've missed out. Unless you ask nicely, and I know someone....
Of course i saved 'em.

I have every single strip from the beginning, and a lot of ancillary stuff on the HD.

But before I go, a bad joke: Why do mermaids wear sea shells? (highlight next line for answer)

I wonder how she got the costume in the first place? What we have here is one girl pretending to be a bad character and the other pretending to be a bad slutty character. She passed the mark on simply bad.

I never had a problem with my mother on dressing too lewd or past my age. I was so small, even in my teens, I still had to shop in the kids or early teens dept. Even now I often end up back in the teens dept to find something that actually fits. Long and leggy I'm not. Being this petite, I still can't pull off the fem-fatal look. I don't even try. On Halloween the best I can do is a Japanese cosplay sort of thing. At least I can pull off Kawaii. Trouble is everyone wants to pinch my cheeks. No, not those, the ones on my face. Ok, not really, but they do all seem want to give me a hug. That's ok, but it's the ones that lift me up in the process I can do without. Worse yet twirl around with me. *sigh* it aint easy being miniature (I couldn't think of anything to rhyme with green). On the other hand I have won best costume on occasion.

Just noticed - went to Paul's Illustration page - there are now TWO pictures of Felicia Day as Codex - but not one of the kids in their 'Bad Girl' costumes. *sad*

I thought about the 'parent's worst nightmare' thing when I saw the pinup; when I was a teenage girl I certainly had my battles with my mom over what was appropriate to wear. So that was an appropriate touch to have Katherine voicing her objections. But it doesn't make me any less uncomfortable with the imagery unfortunately. :( I guess, it's one thing to address the situation, but another entirely to do it by actually sticking the character in an outfit like that and having it be the focus of the image. But that is just me. I could be oversensitive to it!! And the response to the comic has been pretty polite. :)
Honestly, it didn't even occur to me to be uncomfortable with the image...probably because it was accompanied by Kat's "typical parent" response...and also probably in part because (as far as pin ups go) this isn't too risque. Yes, it's a skin-tight cat suit...but how are gymnast uniforms or bathing suits that different? Catwoman is significantly less revealing than those outfits in actuality. Perhaps the concern is that there is an implied sexuality to that character and outfit that doesn't exist in "normal" skin-tight or revealing outfits associated with teens? But that's the only reason I can think that this pinup might be "problematic." Am I missing something?

Just an observation, I would be more concerned about Atsali as Harley Quinn and Castela as Poison Ivy :ugeek:

It's been said here before, that Atsali is 15 and is at that age where she is pushing her limits and trying to grow up much too fast. I imagine that as an orphan, she really didn't get all that much parental guidance and so is used to getting her own way in certain aspects. Look at the way she dresses up to this point. Today's outfit doesn't come as much of a surprise to me given her actions and dress in the past.
Yes--she reminds me of what C.S. Lewis wrote about Susan Pevensie:
She wasted all her school time wanting to be the age she is now, and she'll waste all the rest of her life trying to stay that age. Her whole idea is to race on to the silliest time of one's life as quick as she can and then stop there as long as she can.

Context makes a big difference. To go out on the street in such a costume is different from being at the gym or pool or swimming hole in appropriate attire. Which is not to say that such costumes cannot be immodest even there...

I recall Miss Manners opinion once that, say, underwear at a nude beach would be indecent--just as it would be at a swimsuit beach, because it's not a proper swimsuit.

I well I hope we have progressed a bit since that 1985 Miss Manners article!!!

I think the problem is **how much** 'detail' shows through... especially if it's 'shiny' ...

I have the perfect image macro to post, but it could be seen as divisive and not particularly helpful. Which is too bad because it's funny, relevant and accurate.
