nudity doesn't matter to a animal since there not self aware of there surroundings to the degree that they acknowledge that they are naked, they only are aware they dont blend into the background when they're hunting... Monica is in between her human hatred and jaguar girl she doesnt care she naked because she is using her instincts to hunt and draw out her prey
Punjar repair man, that recently up graded the pun jar to 2.0 now with self defense and and evil ai that will try to kill you, if you even try to hurt it for doing its job...
Re: Fishing You Out 2013-09-26
I doubt animalistic, or tribal, perceptions has anything to do with it. She's just PO'd to the max and just don't care is why. While those other thoughts do apply they apply within the cultural matrix those customs developed in. The customs Monica grew up with are totally different and nudity is taboo. It is a learned response due to our early acculturation as children in western culture. Stepping beyond it is something we do as adults because we choose to. Monica has never chosen to be a casual about nudity. There fore something is over riding her normal response and that is anger, or fury if you prefer.

According to ancient culture and tradition man and woman were unaware of their nakedness until they learned "good from evil", and shame. Animals, little children (and demons apparently) don't know "shame", hence their "nakedness".
(Adam, "I hid because I was naked" God "WHO TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE NAKED?"....)
Although her spots aren't showing all that well, she is still a jaguar girl, so a little to furry (not to mention PO'd ) to be concerned with with trivial human concerns like nakedness.
All that being said, I keep hearing a big rooster with a southern accent saying " Sum one, I say Sum one is about to get the tar beat out of them, a whoopin that is. Pay attention son."

While Georgette was knocked out, Tina placed Monica in sleep mode. Georgette will wake up with a massive hangover like headache and Monica will comment that she needs to start writing these dreams down somewhere.

She's SMILING.
If the Tar has a hyperdrive, it's already too late to use it...

And honestly folks...while she's probably not aware of (or concerned by) her nudity (because she's around "females" or because she's too angry...you pick), I think another factor to consider here is that she is well aware that her flaming form tends to destroy her clothes. Even if she has enough emotional separation from this situation in her mind to be bothered by her nudity, she would probably just write the whole thing off as "not a problem now" until she finished kicking ass and could turn the flames off. Besides...the only "clothing" she had in CSpace was destroyed by the Tar...or was the "hair" of one of the demons. I doubt she'll be too worried about being dressed until she can get back to the waking world.

Re: Fishing You Out 2013-09-26
Nudity isn't an issue, as she is in energized mode, and featureless, body-wise.
Now, like others, I've noticed that she was grinning like a gassed hyena, and that isn't good for Tar. My dad had said that when he and Ma were out with friends at one of the Native American bars in Oakland, and someone would try and pick a fight, he knew enough to let her handle it herself, because she could usually defuse the situation. But, if Ma was getting upset, he would start paying attention. If she suddenly went from anger, to calm and smiling, while telling whoever to back off now, it was time to go somewhere else, before some drunk girl got the business end of a angry Comanche who was taught to box by her Golden Gloves-trained uncle. Dynamite comes in small packages.
Tar better give up now, before Monica gets to lay a hand on it. Tomorrow's strip isn't going to go well for that puddle of goo.

Costume is only one of many methods whereby civilization acknowledges the privacy of the individual, and her place in society. And of course, it's rarely exclusively about just that. But it's usually some marker of bodily integrity, an extra reminder of a boundary-- ancient paranormals may not have the same concerns as humans struggling to maintain civilization, as they are dangers in their own right. The boundary is there whether the marker is or not.meisdadoo wrote:According to ancient culture and tradition man and woman were unaware of their nakedness until they learned "good from evil", and shame. Those that disregard boundaries, by definition, trespass. Anyone who thinks that markers are irrelevant or that just because a boundary is invisible that it doesn't exist, should consider taking down that little wall in panel two.

I was kind of referring to Jet feeling Rumbly in her tumbly with all the antics going on. Kind of like when Bud poited Monica's doubt into Jin and it fought to get out... though that wasn't half as funny as Jin nuking a can of whipped cream and stuffing it in Bud's belly hatch. The resulting whipped cream explosion and nose fountain was hilarious!zachariah wrote:CSpace may be connected to Jet but I doubt it is a physical part of her. I do have to wonder how cognizant Jet is of all of this though... and how she's going to take it. If she had hero worship before, how will she feel when Monica rids her of her toxic parts?

Re: Fishing You Out 2013-09-26
What if it's Tar who is actually driving Georgette's love for Monica? It would not be the first time someone mistook lust for love. Given that Tar has subdued several of the demons, and probably intimidated others, her's/it's voice may the the loudest most of the time. Additionally, what if Tar is actually in love with Monica? It rapes everyone, so that's just it's normal mode of operation. That is to say it's nothing unique to Monica. If it is capable of actual emotions, it may be in love with Monica. Destroying it outright may dispel the "love" Georgette has, or thinks she has, for Monica.DilyV wrote:I do have to wonder how cognizant Jet is of all of this though... and how she's going to take it. It's also possible all this is not just about Georgette, but about the redemption of Tar as well. Tar is something or the result/residue of something. Like Phix, Nudge, and the GGs, Tar may be worthy of redemption despite it's past actions (Yes, the Nu Gui wasn't ... yet). That is, after all, an ongoing theme of this comic. Tar may even be a part of someone else entirely. I just find it hard to believe it's just about Georgette or and/or Tar as such. This arc is page-turning great as always, but the other arcs have encompassed much more than a single individual's story. There was always more at stake. Much more.

We're still not quite sure why she loves Monica so. Well, okay, we know why she ought to, but how this got into her heart when before she seemed merely pally or needful of attention towards M is still unrevealed. I'm hoping it's not that M unconsciously compels worship, as a subTitan... as interesting a plot direction as that would be, I'd be deconstructing Unwanted Harem tropes five days a week, and I may need my brain the rest of the year.DilyV wrote:I do have to wonder how cognizant Jet is of all of this though... and how she's going to take it. Bonks on the head tend to foreshadow memory loss. Ignorance and forgetfulness are outdated (and very anti-consent) handwaves... and we already have Justin for amnesia fun. We'll just have to find the patience to wait through some messages for Goo-Gone before we find out Jet's destiny.

zachariah, thanks for the clarification.. there are many cultures where nudity is 'just a normal thing, not a worry'

Meh ...
The myth in question goes back at least to the Jahwist source of the Torah, which was thought to be from ca 950 BC, but is now thought to be from ca 500 BC. (And there's no telling how old the myth was before it was collected in this source.)
The Greek phrase τὰ βιβλία ("the books", plural) was used among Hellenistic Jews ca 200 BC. Hence why the Tanakh is called the Jewish Bible, I guess.
The English word Bible is however from the Latin biblia ("book", singular), and refers primarily to the Christian canon; or one of them; can't get them all to agree on just one ...
The earliest enduring instance of such a canon for inclusion, something qualified to be called "the Bible", goes back to AD 393.

It is just too easy to start a 'religion' more than 30,000 years ago, when people do not know that the sun was going to rise again in the morning!!!
- or wondered why their crops went bad, then some guy did something different, like wear a different shirt, and the next morning he found the crops has started growing... so it is now a *blessed* shirt, until later when the crops go wrong again, and they think the gods did it... :/ :/
Re: Fishing You Out 2013-09-26
Umm ... don't put too much trust that source.illiad wrote:double meh. - **only** 950 BC? :/ the bible is a lot older.. first story dated about 1400 BC..Sidhekin wrote:Meh ...

Even so, all it says is that parts of the Bible (including this myth) is from 1400 BC. By the dates this source gives to other parts of the Bible, the Bible could not have been made until 90 AD. (Yeah, don't trust that date either.)
Another answer on that page gives 325 AD for when the Bible was canonized. The word (in Latin, not English) might have been used before then; perhaps as early as in the 1st century.
But whether you consider the sources that went into the Bible to have been written about 1400 BC, 950 BC, or 500 BC, those sources were still around long before the Bible.
