50 million years? I guess it's safe to say it is bereft of life and resting in peace.Dave wrote:This is very, very spooky stuff, my friends.
I decided to respond to MerchManDan's comment by finding a picture somewhere of the famous (and fictional) Norwegian Blue parrot, of the Monty Python skit I was referencing, and offering the picture to the Pun Jar. I figured somebody had to have drawn one.
Somebody has... as part of an artist's reconstruction of what it probably looked like, when its species actually existed about 50 million years ago. There really were parrots in Scandinavia back then (during a warm spell).
You can see the picture for yourself. All you have to do is Google the name of the species.

Could be, it is the Icelandic version of the word.
Or possible old saxon or low english? There are a fair number of connection to old england, wales, etc.
Also German. It's common for members of an extended social family to be considered Aunts/Uncles to the children, regardless of lineage. Auntie Mame, anyone?
Great movie!
And reading all the punny remarks is leaving me a little bushed...

And - for all of you that took the liberty of quoting Dave - You also should consider making a donation to the Pun Vault - or you will also be considered one of the fall-in (which is what will happen if you don't).

All these puns are so great Ivy been clinging on every word... Personally, I'd like to see some of Castela's family tree but I like the way she's cultivating new friends and family.
Would anyone like some vine and cheese?
Drops a pack of ficus pandorella seeds in the pun jar for all those who have punned and not paid. LOL

I see we're all out on a limb here with the Pun Jar. It obviously comes from some deep rooted traumas.
I'll leaf before the Jar's bark gets too much to stand.
But that Castela is just a twig off the old family tree...

I wood think that this topic has gone to pot already. Better to let it lie fallow and go to seed.

Re: Execution Via Fear 2012-08-16
Actually the pun jar only wants donations, or forfeits, from the PERSON who made the pun. Not from those of us who just copied the original. The real question is does Dave have to make a donation for every time it was quoted? A case can be made that quoting Dave just allows him to make the same pun over and over again many times. If it does then the pun jar will collect quiet a harvest from Dave.I can see Dave saying 'Son of a Birch' with a face sap included. We will have to chlorophyll him to calm him down.as363 wrote:And - for all of you that took the liberty of quoting Dave - You also should consider making a donation to the Pun Vault - or you will also be considered one of the fall-in (which is what will happen if you don't).
Deposits a book on photosynthesis in the jar and a few barks of laughter.

I've yet to contribute anything to the pun jar, but what with everything that's been going on lately I'm thinking of making a larch donation.

The Larch? An excellent choice! After all, it is a tree you can recognize from a long ways away.ActionKermit wrote:I've yet to contribute anything to the pun jar, but what with everything that's been going on lately I'm thinking of making a larch donation.

We took French in First Form (Canada - Grade 9) and one of the first things that I remember was the following little poem.
La plume de ma tante
Est sur la table de mon oncle
Le Livre de mon oncle
Est sur la table de ma tante
Which translates as
The pen of my Aunt
Is on the table of my Uncle
The paper of my Uncle
Is on the table of my Aunt (Edited one time- stupid fingers)

Anyone who is pining for some wooden puns, have no fear: you can't beech the ones here, although we might have to spruce them up a bit.
Drops a face palm into the jar, sideways--so it might prop it open for others to contribute.
