Depends on what happens when Kath goes shopping with them - unless Castela can also disguise herself as human I'm pretty sure they'll be the center of attention in mere minutes...

I'm gonna call this a subtle cliffhanger. We get what seems like a measure of closure on this particular adventure, but what's going to happen next?!? What will Monday bring?!!?

I suspect if Katherine takes them to Tina's she will know what each of them is.

I just had an idea for Pickle. Take an over sized hair band. Cut two holes that fit over the horns. Then decorate like a kids toy. She can wear it like a lot of little kids wear a favorite item. Just claim Kathy got it at a SciFi convention and Pickle loves it. Problem solved on mixing until someone makes her cry.

This is NICE!

But Castela has gray skin. That's going to be even harder to hide than her horns. I would hope, if Kath is going to stay in her current place, the MiB can provide some sort of cloaking device so Castela can appear human and be able to go outside.

(Gray skin and horns but not hooves; that would seem to rule out a minotaur or conventional demon. I wonder if she might be a hybrid, the offspring of two different species. That might account for her ability to grow vines when upset.)

Edit: Oh yes, and it's going to be interesting to see how Lily fits into this family. She is 1/6th Kath's mother, after all. This is going to be a family tree to make genealogists scream in terror! :lol:

Nah...I think Atsali would be pleased to have a badass for a mom...and Pickle will love anything that Atsali loves. :P

Pickle: "CHUCKIE CHEESE!!!"
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :lol: :lol: WIN! (And it would certainly explain Kat's expression...I would be wearing that kind of angry/determined look if I was about to walk into a Chuckie Cheese's too. :P)

They're all cowering in the corner already. Shelly's to blame.

"Human, half Anglo and half Comanche, with some recombined ancient sphinx genes from the Neolithic era" was hard enough for them to swallow, but at least the weird ancestry was from long-ago.

Then, it turned out that she's a Nouveau Strange stewpot: 1/4 human, 1/4 sphinx, and 1/2 Mighty Morphing pseudo-Comanche Titan! They went into shock. Called off the annual convention entirely, as I recall, since too many of the presenters had to retract their papers at the last minute.

And now they have worse to consider. Shelly's now an item wirh Justin/Epimetheus. If they have kids... well, both the genealogists and the geneticists are likely to be begging Brandi to open an exit in the World Grid so they can emigrate to a less confusing dimension. ;)

Kathy is going to have her own problems if her eye's don't go back to normal. She can claim pickle as a distant relative because of the eyes and fake something for the skin color if need be. The most normal looking one is Sali when she hides the wings.

Just think of Kath as a mama grizzly ready to protect her young... Woe be to the first person who says something out of place. I'm liking the new Kath. A Lot. So much so that I've given her new theme music.

First part we have Kath... Strong and bold... at the first break, we have Atsali in the trumpet part, then back to kath for a bit before we have little Castela in the Piano part to the end...

Hah!!! HAH!!! HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

Enjoy!!!!

And after they sign the adoption papers, it's off to do some shopping at MSP's premier paranormal kid's clothier, Little Monsters. Then ice cream. But not for Oscar.

Katherine's eyes have always been like that.

I guess it's like Tina's eyes - most people feel a little unsettled, but don't actually see their eyes as they actually are.

Katherine's expression is one of "Okay, I know who I am. I know what I am."

"And I know what's gonna happen to anyone who tries to mess with me or my kids."

"And it's not gonna be pretty."

=========

In Peter David's Fallen Angel comic (when he continued it as an independent after DC cancelled it original run), he did a sequence flashing back to Lin's arrival in town. (Lin was the previous protector/free-lance trouble shooter in town, prior to Lee, who literally is a fallen angel)*. When Lin first arrives in town (i've forgotten the name of the city, which is amazingly like New Orleans, but isn't exactly part of the real world), she's having a quiet drink in Furores, Dolf's bar, when some local would-be hardcases try to start something.

One pulls a gun and tries to shoot her; she opens her hand and lets the shells from his gun fall to the floor. And when someone says "How...?", she says "Like this", and suddenly she's holding the gun.

And then she says "If you don't get out of here right now, I'm going to do this to your balls..." and she crushes the gun in her hand "...and then I'll laugh .. Like this."

And she has exactly the expression Katherine has in this page. Until she laughs.

And by that time the not-so-hard guys are long gone.

=======

* When he was doing the series for DC, Peter had a lot of fun suggesting that it was a backdoor continuation of his run on Supergirl, and that Lee was, in fact, Linda Lee Danvers, his Supergirl's alternate identity. When he confirmed (in the indie series) that she wasn't, he took great joy in introducing Lin, who also looked a lot as if she might be Linda. She wasn't.

The more I look at Castela, the more I'm thinking gargoyle... or at least part gargoyle. With a nickname like Pickle, I'd expected her to be green, but a greyish tinge leads me to believe gargoyle...

Either that, or her parents were much too thoroughly convinced of the (alleged) medical benefits of colloidal silver.

Great, now I am going to wonder if she is a silver eater.
