Hey! I'm reeeally stoked at this moment.... I rediscovered an old webcomic that I started reading back in 1996 and then lost track of it around 2001 or 2002, right before I got married.... it fell of my mind until today, searching some Fred Perry (Gold Digger) animation I came across an animation made by Eric W. Schwartz author of Sabrina online. So I'm giddy as a 6 year old girl in Equestria meeting Pinkie Pie screaming, squealing and jumping all over.....ok, well maybe not that much, but close enough. So now I have another webcomic to read during my "pause" moments yay!!! and I have a little over 10 years worth of content to read! Booyah!!

Nope - and "Weber" isn't even a derivative of the original Bohemian name (which i've forgotten in the twenty-plus years since Dad told me the story).

Basically, Dad's grandfather changed his name some time after he got here (i think that was the Bohemian draft-dodger side of the family, not the Bohemian honourable-veteran side...). But he didn't file any papers, just started calling himself Weber.

WHich, Dad says, led to some rather creative and non-filial language from my grandfather, his executor, when he discovered that he had to establish (with no documentation) that the Gus Weber who'd died was, in fact the Gus-something-else who'd begun amassing property fifty or sixty years ago...

BTW _ if i correctly remember what my dad said, one grandfather came from Plzn and the other from České Budějovice. My contempt of USAian beer (and Budweiser in particular) is apparently genetic.

Getting back to the original subject of favorite web comics: Sluggy Freelance. Reasons? 1. the puns 2. the bombshell dropped with the last update shows even after all this time Pete can still write things that totally smack the readership upside the head in a good way

I read Sluggy Freelance for a long time. That and User Friendly.

One of the biggest reasons I stopped reading SF was that the author/artist kept claiming to be a 'professional', yet would have long stretches where he couldn't be bothered to have strips up - even though he wasn't doing full colour.

"Stick Figure Sluggy" is NOT professional. If you're a professional - meaning you make your living at it - you don't get the excuse of "Man, I just didn't feel like it". Howard Tayler works weeks in advance when he can. Pete Abrams couldn't do days. I think Paul's missed half a dozen days in _years_. Pete missed that much in a two month period - even during scripted arcs.

I was wrong - it wasn't a perfect run. It was from 1993 to 2006 - he was one of the earliest 'web comic' authors out there, and did 520 weeks worth of comics.
