OK, she did remember to put in an ID... but she forgot to make it a dynamic-sized array structure. Oops.
Fecundity == index overflow.
Six sets of quads... hmmm... recent stats say it's about 1 quadruple in 700,000 pregnancies. If the odds were similar then, it would indicate about 4.2 million pregnancies... seems higher than a small population would support, but not particularly high for modern populations... there were around 4 million births in the US in 2010.

you can feel Brandi's exapseration... I get the feeling that quads weren't too prevalent or Brandi would have thought of it.
You know that light at the end of the tunnel?
Yeah... it's a bullet. Sorry.

So Brandy's program could account for multiples up to triplets, but not higher, meaning any more than 3 were "leftovers".
Six extras, six chanika dolls
And ancestor baby, which looks like Katherine, who is a lost Anasasi.
Curiouser and curiouser..
And I am both fascinated and a bit creeped out by what seems to be Bud's default look. Also, Brandi calls her "Acacia" not "Bud"..
I'm betting this version of Bud isn't the warm, caring, slightly nieve young woman we know in the present. She looks a bit more... intense.

Damn, those Anasazi women are fertile!
She does look rather warm, actually. Plasma breath should be nice and toasty.Boxilar wrote:I'm betting this version of Bud isn't the warm, caring, slightly nieve young woman we know in the present. She looks a bit more... intense.

Well, her full name is "Acacia Budur", Just as Brandi's is "Brandilyn Oduya".And I am both fascinated and a bit creeped out by what seems to be Bud's default look. Also, Brandi calls her "Acacia" not "Bud"..
If we've been told Jin's full name, i've forgotten.

Adiobe I think. I was just pointing out neither of them is using nicknames for the other. If I met someone who looks the way Acacia looks here, I don't think i could refer to them by a nickname either.Fairportfan wrote:Lily and five other girls, lost in the desert...Boxilar wrote:So Brandy's program could account for multiples up to triplets, but not higher, meaning any more than 3 were "leftovers".

And so Brandi's crusade against Murphy's Law was born.
Re: Six Women 2013-05-21
I have the sinking feeling that Lilly is Katherine's biological mother.

Re: Six Women 2013-05-21
I think whatever Brandi tries next will be to re-extract mother and 'extra' child, then attempt to re-insert them into new, separate crystals - separate mommies, separate babies, and six babies with an extra 'Read-Me' file.
Too hard to program on-the-fly into a system already running, the extraction process borks, and we wind up with mind-wiped ex-mommies-to-be dumped in a random spot in the desert. Possibly the fetuses survive......possibly, only one.
Also - modern population pressures are causing a suppressed birth rate in todays world. If the Lanthians had not yet reached that level of population pressure, their birthrate - and the incidence of quad pregnancies - might be correspondingly higher. And isn't this only a few generations after their civilization was, er, 'muchly reduced'? Birth rates are generally elevated in a pioneer society.

Who the hell has quadruplets, indeed - only very large populations indeed should have six sets of quadruplets gestating at any particular moment. Poor Brandi forgot that in programming there are only three meaningful numbers: zero, one, and infinity. (She should have coded that differently, considering that she remembered twins and triplets.) It only takes one hyperfertile woman with sexuplets to throw an exception - and from Brandi's reaction it looks as if the system doesn't have a good exception handler.

Didn't account for uterine wall attachments greater than three?
I really hope she's not trying save all the Lanthian housepets, then.

It may simply be Jin, daughter of Mayahuel; it's not clear if Lanthians used surnames as current Europeans do. She's also been known as Tochtli. (Note that Pablo hasn't mentioned if she was Ometotchtli, Two Rabbit, or Macuiltochtli, Five Rabbit; the former seems to fit better - and the deity Ometotchtli is sometimes conflated with Tepoztecatl. Hm, I say.). She uses "Jin Adeobie" in Minneapolis, as a stealth pun for a clay golem to use a name that's phonetically 'adobe.' Her mother calls her 'Muffin Crumb.'

i liked the slower version of that song that they synced to the flash video rather than the faster, radio-edit they put out on their first CD...

Well, I was a bit short on my 'twins' theory, but what the heck.
Didn't Brandi have an episode when she was involved in the death of an infant when she was originally captured.
Perhaps this failure of her responsibility again is what sent her into split personality mode.

Considering how much the Lanthians were into altering their world, fertility drugs wouldn't be unheard of.
Brandi needed to get out more.
