Well, my pet gerbil Snowy died a little over an hour ago. I still have the paper here when I got him and his tankmate Pancho in January of 2011. Even though he always had health problems he was a tough little SOB that never let feeling bad get in the way of his play. I guess now he is wherever gerbils go and chewing a never ending supply of toilet paper tubes and dried fruit snacks. He joins Pancho who was seemingly always in perfect health but passed away mysteriously while I was out of town during this last Christmas break.
Will upload pics later, something weird is going on with my ISP and many sites are not opening for me right now.

Re: R.I.P. Snowy
OK, so it wasn't my ISP. Had to totally reset my DSL modem.
Snowy was always the curious one and nearly fearless.
It was amusing to see them pick up food and eat with their hands like little peoples.
Pancho got a lot fatter than this when he was older since he was much lazier than Snowy.
It was always hard to get a good picture of the little scaredy cat.

It's amazing how these furry, and scaley and feathered, little guys work their way into our hearts.
The hardest thing about starting work out this way was finding a home for my dog. I visited her the first year I did this, I wasn't sure how long I'd be doing it. After deciding I was going to give it a go for the long run, I stopped seeing her. The family that I set her up with said she would act depressed for a couple of weeks after I stopped coming by. I get emails, about her and it now leaves me a little depressed after I read them.
It looks like Snowy and Pancho made out well for a couple of gerbils. Take comfort in that.
Unless you were using those Downy balls to sneak them into the movies...

Deepest condolences. May all the memories be happy ones.

My condolences. I'm at one week out from the loss of my little orange tabby.

Re: R.I.P. Snowy
Thanks everybody. When I lost Pancho I sort of shrugged and moved on but Snowy has hit me surprisingly hard and am still fighting back watery eyes. He was the little bugger I really got attached to. The "funeral" is tomorrow. My brother has a growing pet cemetery in his back yard. No zombie animals, though. (at least not yet)
I'm sorry about your tabby, jwhouk. I've never had a cat but I understand they can be just as close of companions as dogs.
