Katherine is really moving up in the world from the shy girl we first saw. Now she's giving the MIB orders. :D

Seems the girl that thought she would be useless in the field has grown up. All she wanted to do before was find an adventure for Monica and live vicariously through her. Fate sure loves to shake up the Status quo

I'm still going with the theory that Katharine has had Adventures before and her previous persona as we've seen it was a result of something like PTSD.

I mean, attending a Halloween party dressed as Starbuck seems sort of out-of-character for the Katharine we've mostly seen.

Kath has core of tempered steel. It took the last few weeks of mishaps to bring it out, but after allowing Atsali to lead her without question, being battered and bruised has demolished Katherine's social inhibitions and allowed her to assert herself as a leader. Which was probably the Library's intent when it paired her up with Atsali in the first place. The end result will be that Atsali gains a mentor who can temper her "youthfull enthisiasm" and Kath has a protoge who helps propel her past her personal inertia.

If they don't kill each other in the process, that is.

I agree. the fact that she knew how to reduce Atsali's arm and her calmness during the danger show's she's done this before.

This is a professional speaking here and an angry one as well. Everything she's been through have just increased her stress level. The arrival of help, though I'm surprised she accepted them at face value so quickly, dropped the stress but left the focused personality of the professional. So she is angry that they are messing up her dig. She was polite about asking for the phone but strong about the choppers. This is very normal for all the professionals I know. You don't mess with their area of expertise without good reason or you get bitten. Trying to tell a C++ person how to code will cost you your fingers if you touch the keyboard. This is unlikely to be a repressed trait we just haven't seen her in this situation before.

Language, Katherine, language. There is a minor present. There is no need to be so vulgar, even in this situation. Not to mention rude. And to the people who are trying to help. She's gonna need to learn to temper that tongue of hers if she is to be a good role model for an impressionable teen. Maybe when Sally starts saying f**k, she'll get the hint.

Also, it would be a nice idea for the MIB team to leave some food, water, backpacks, and a first aid kit behind as well. Kat could still use some medical attention too. Without something to help hold it in place, her nose will likely need re-breaking to set it properly later on.

very true... like most battle-hardened people, I guess she just wants to get away from it all to a dark room for a few weeks ...

Don't let Zeetha hear you say that, or she's going to get sadder than your new avatar. ;)

Good thing Kat ran into At now. Imagine the damage if it was pre-Time Forest Shelly that paired up with the juvie Siren.

Erm... you mean Lara Croft?

I must say... Kath has a funny way of conducting a "dig"... Dig doesnt do what's happened so far justice... Collapse? Nah... to weak... Catastrophe? Heh... we're getting there.

Also, Pratt pretty much said "We're here to do what you tell us to do," so there's that.

Pratt's help should be welcome after an arrival sequence that could be written by Pratchett.

Also, remember that a mass of air equal in weight to each chopper must be accelerated to 16 ft/sec for each second the bird is hovering over the pit, That's a lot of air moving at a fair clip. And actually most choppers don't move air that slowly, rotor downwash is usually in the 88ft/sec vicinity (60 MPH) so less mass, much higher velocity, much higher energy in the downwash to scatter things about...
