I tend to sympathize with those who hold that the piano-launching trebuchet is the pinnacle of Western civilization.

"...I played the Orpheum Circuit with Grace and Poise in nineteen-ought-sixteen."

{Quote VERY approximate. Two virtual cookies for anyone who can identify its origin; it's sixty or seventy years in the past...}

There was a "BLAM!" immediately after it.

Feels like Bugs Bunny setting up an aggressive dimbulb. But that's probably not it. :mrgreen:

I figured that you would want to fake a birth complete with birth certificate every 20 years or less. Then you can establish the new identity firmly before you need that ID. Transferring the wealth is a fairly simple process now that Cryptocurrency is a thing.

I saw that program on the Discovery Channel, many years ago (when Jesse James was building cars on the Monster Garage).
Edit To Add: They had a program about building and "using" trebuchets and the series finale was launching large objects like refrigerators, pianos and luxury cars. I think it was maybe 4 episodes long, a spinoff of the Punkin Chunkin specials.

My challenge: A couple hints - it was 1952, and it was a newspaper comic.

And, oddly enough, it WAS a rabbit, just not Bugs.

Yep.

P T Bridgeport demonstrating the proper technique for throwing your hat in the ring.

The quote is from the rabbit ith a circus band hat who follows him around to beat a drum during his orations.

Bridgeport explains {using his own straw hat} that one needs to toss it with grace and poise ... the rabbit says it, then whips out a shotgun and blows the hat out of the air.

"From now on you load that fowling piece with oatmeal! My head could have been in that!" Bridgeport yells as he holds the brim that's all that remains...
