OK I have problems keeping up with which character goes with which group. Was Devyn part of Atsali's class, or with the Castela group?

She's in Atsali's cohort, but not (if I recall correctly) her class. She was one of the group of freshmen who were nervous about interacting with "leader-of-the-school" Atsali. AFAIK, you can get similar sanitary effects with saltwater, and definitely can use UV light and possibly ozone . . . though I don't know what effect ozone would have on gills.
Or it might simply taste bad.
