Meteorite Strike in Russia

Post by ShneekeyTheLost »

Could've been a lot worse, I suppose. Most of the injuries seem to be from shattered glass. I wonder if someone will try to make a blade from the remnants, or if someone will claim to develop super-powers from proximity of the impact...

But hey, at least the Asteroid is going to miss us, even if it is by a very narrow margin. THAT would've cause a significantly more powerful impact...

Could certainly have been much worse... the Tunguska airburst was quit a bit larger and (if I remember correctly) an hour or so's difference in its arrival time could have resulted in the destruction of Moskva.

It wasn't until a few years ago that scientists learned enough for us to really appreciate how relatively common these things are. I recall reading that there's an upper-atmosphere detonation every year or two which releases energy on the same order as the A-bomb which destroyed Hiroshima. We're fortunate that few get down to near ground level.

I know there is a "In Soviet Russia" joke in there somewhere but I can't think of it.

I'm amused by the Russian gentleman that was 'wounded in the beard."
Maybe there's still Dwarf enclaves in the Urals...

I laughed more than 15 seconds...
Yanno how some people have Angels/Devils for a conscience? I have a Dark Elf ShadowKnight and a Half Elf Ranger for mine. The really bad part is when they agree on something.

I did think of orcs as steppe nomad types. Goblins and kin are Northwest rain-forest monsters, and gnolls are from the tropical veldt (and jungle). The scaly kobalds don't really fit the rest--I envisioned them as dragon-bred slaves from the Sahara Desert.

So you believe in the Grassy Gnoll theory?

Since historical research has shown that it happened five days after a high tide, I'm personally inclined to favor the Lone Grunion theory.

Harvesting all those gnoll fangs for faction was a PitA, but the Halas pies were soooooo worth it.
