Police: Car theft suspect run over after bailing from stolen van
Mike Morris/The Atlanta Journal-Constitution wrote:A man caught driving a stolen minivan was run over by the vehicle when he jumped out and tried to run from officers, DeKalb County police said.
DeKalb police Lt. Dane Cunningham said officers spotted the stolen Dodge Voyager and a stolen Dodge Ram on Candler Road at Glen Valley Drive around 3:45 a.m. Thursday.

When officers got behind the vehicles on Golf Valley Drive, “the driver of the Dodge Voyager jumped out of the vehicle and ran in front of it while it was still in motion,” Cunningham said in an e-mail. “The driver was struck by the vehicle, which continued over an embankment.”

The second vehicle was later recovered in the 3300 block of Glenwood Road, but no suspects were found.

The 25-year-old Voyager driver, whose name has not been released, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition, and is facing auto theft charges, according to Cunningham.

I saw this item, and wondered the same thing. It does take a certain amount of clumsy dexterity to accomplish.

Just lack of common sense to move in front of a vehicle you left in motion...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If I turned to a life of crime, I'd be a criminal genius.

I don't know... To be related, shouldn't he have been trying to parallel park?
(No, I don't care that an inability to parallel park cannot be genetically inherited...)

If tendencies towards music, art or blacksmithing can be inherited. Arguably. Why not parallel parking?

(Yeah, yeah, I know. Nature vs nurture...)

Not parallel parking, per se, but I know someone who was pushing their car and almost ran over their leg. They were pushing from the open drivers door, steering a bit when needed. When they lost their footing, they fell on their face and the right leg was (briefly) in the way of the back tire.

Embarrassing and scary at the same time.

YMMV!

Running yourself over during a police chase does win entertainment points but isn't enough. Someone should tell him next time if he wants to win a Darwin Award he needs to be rendered sterile or dead.
