Cat caught sneaking saw, phone into Brazil prison
Reuters wrote:A cat carrying a saw and a mobile phone was "detained" as it entered a prison gate in northeast Brazil, Brazilian media reported on Saturday.
Prison guards were surprised when they saw a white cat crossing the main gate of the prison, its body wrapped with tape. A closer look showed the feline also carried drills, an earphone, a memory card, batteries and a phone charger.
All 263 detainees in the prison of Arapiraca, a city of 215,000 people in the state of Alagoas, are considered suspect in the plot, which is being investigated by local police.
"It's tough to find out who's responsible for the action as the cat doesn't speak," a prison spokesperson told local paper Estado de S.Paulo.
The cat was taken to an animal disease center to receive medical care.
The incident took place on New Year's day but was first reported by national media on Saturday.

This raises a few questions, in my mind:
- How would the cat know where to go from there?
- How would it have been trained to go where it needed to go?
- How cruel must one get, to tape stuff to an animal, such as to likely cause much pain to said animal when tape is removed?
Apparently, some people will stop at nothing to get their way...

Hey now, let's not jump to conclusions. Maybe the cat wasn't a victim. He, or she, might have been selling that stuff to prisoners to make nip money. (Nip is the street slang for catnip) Let's get the facts before we make judgments...

Come to think of it, we have yet to see how Phix, Shelly, and Monica react to catnip. It might be their kryptonite, so to speak... a squirter full of aerosolized, weaponized catnip extract might be the ultimate anti-sphinx deterrant.
The thought of seeing a 20' multi-ton uber-powerful sphinx splatted out bonelessly on the floor, silly smile on face, purring "Oh, wow! Look at the colors!"... well, I'd buy a ticket!

I'm just glad the guards were humane enough to take that poor baby to a Vet clinic to get treated. It looks like such a sweet baby

From what I read (in German) the cat was raised by the inmates (with permission from the prison) and sometimes family members of some of the inmates would take her home to feed and care for her...

That, and how the heck did they ever think all that stuff wouldn't be noticed on first sight?!

I'm reminded of a Genghis Khan story -- He faced a city and really didn't feel like wasting the energy to crush it, so he offered them not to invade if they gave sacrifice of 10,000 cats and 10,000 sparrows. They did. His soldiers attached smouldering wicks to each of them and released them. Of course, they all went back to the city, which promptly burned to the ground.
Who knows what he could have done with Duct Tape!

Good night, old woman, I can't hear a word you're saying, but whatever it is, I disagree with you one hundred percent! (Wilbur MacDougall)
...
Fine, fine...
*Drops a watch with the word "hell" written on the back, from the 1997 remake, into the pun jar.*

Okay, one and only one point for originality, massive penalties for animal abuse.

Hey! I definitely do NOT resemble that remark!
There was a remake of that movie?

I should think not!

Yep. It featured Christina Ricci (Wednesday, from the Adams Family movies) as Patti, and Doug E. Doug as agent Zeke Kelso... I seem to recall enjoying it, when I saw it, but according to the user reviews, many people didn't. So of course, YMMV...

I think I showed that film working as a projectionist. Because I only think I, showed it I must have felt it was 'meh'. but it's hard to make me dislike a film...

Yeah,
this is an hour and a half I'll never get back...
(I think the 4.3 rating has to have been inflated)

Well the 4.3 was from the cult following it has kinda like "Plan 9 from Outer Space" and "Rocky Horror". The film was made as a dark comedy and is just stupid enough to get a laugh from the vocal, albeit small, group of fans (especially when Troma bought it and re-released it as video).

You know, I love a campy bad movie, huge MSTK fan and all. But that one, to me anyway, had an undercurrent of...meaness, maybe too much real sadism in the thought to it. I may have missed the point in it being a dark (what's darker than black?) comedy. But it is one of the few films I would reccomend against watching.
But, I can say the same thing for Gili...
