Don't read this unless you're ready to cry
Proof Positive the world is not flat: If it were, cats would have pushed everything off the edge by now.

Black cats are my favorite, though...
There is no such thing as a science experiment gone wrong.

I made a PDF of this; if you'd like a copy, PM me.

Re: Don't read this unless you're ready to cry
Forwarded this to a friend/neighbor/cow-orker across the cul-de-sac.
He and his family had had a couple of black shelter cats (brother cats Sherlock and Watson) that I helped take care of at times. Unfortunately both were hit by cars over a period of a few years... we all grieved for them.
A few weeks ago they decided it was time to have another cat. The shelter here has a simple solution to the social-distancing problem which normal adoption procedures bring with them. Their new method: you file an application, you are screened, and if you pass, you get an appointment time and come to the shelter and they give you a cat. Very much Hobson's Choice... they make sure it's healthy, has had its shots, and is spayed or neutered, but that's all you're certain of... and if you say No they don't offer you another.
So, they took the chance... and the family and the cat both won the lottery. He's a darling little black kitten, polydactyl (one extra tiny claw-toe on each foot) and thus doubly hard to adopt out. They call him "Otis" because he's quite vocal and has a sweet little voice... Gwen immediately gifted the family with an Otis Redding CD. Otis is exploring the neighborhood each evening, on the end of a leash, and is having a grand time of it. He's already climbing trees (and climbing back down!)
I still miss Sherlock (I was apparently one of the few non-family-members that he would trust and talk to) but I'm looking forward to getting to know Otis.

I have a very fine white-booted tuxedo cat and his calico sister right here in this room.
Also had a very nice polydactyl cat in college, but he got run over in the street in front of the frat lodge, and I buried him in the back yard there. Hadn't thought of him in a long time.
When cat get the opposable thumbs working, we're done.

I just means they'll throw things off the table instead of just pushing them!
Don't let other peoples limitations become your constraints!

... and then they'll discover matches and lighters.
